This picture has been floating around town for a couple of days...Rumor is that it weighed in at 38lbs. I'm thinking it looks more like a mid 20's fish but who knows? Nice big fish either way and obviously a shame that it's not gonna spawn. I don't know the fellow in the photo and I'm not trying to start a bash the gillnets thread. Just thought it was an impressive fish that you guys might want to see. Came out of the Quinault...

Imagine how much they could get for that fish if they let a tourist catch and release it?

True ;), and we both know how it will turn out. A war on how much it weighs that will last a couple of pages then someone will say that it is a hatchery fish because of how they clip them in that particular area. I will start.. I think that fish looks no more than 21 pounds!

I just did the quicky fNp photo weight estimator.

On my monitor, the dudes palm spread measures 16 mm.... about 4 inches in real life.

Length snout to mid fork on my monitor would measure about 180 mm.

Proportionally speaking, that fish is right around 45" long.

F'n toad, no doubt.

See these oversized washed out looking fish every year. Upper river/Q lower lake broodstock fish I'm thinking.

that fish looks much bigger than the first one in this thread. I think the first one is low 20's.

Doesn't look close to the fish that was weighted at Buddy Borsarge Taxidermy, in Hoquiam.......70's or early 80's..it also came from a net in the lower Quinault....and pulled scale down to 35#.....I was there, when it was being weighted.

There used to be a pic of Inky Charlie with several other Quinault people holding a 38# with the Quinault banner behind them. I'll look for it.
