Anyone have experience with those AR uppers for 458 SOCOM or 50 Beowulf or 450 Bushmaster....?? Ive been thinking of looking into one for taking with me to Alaska...ideas? thx

I have a .458 Socom. Love it. Accurate, reliable, devastating on game. You should be a handloader. .458 has more bullet choices than the .451 or .50 cal Beowulf. What questions do you have?

I also have a 6.8 SPC, which works very well on deer and other animals I'd that size.

What did your upper cost, ball park?

My upper was entirely custom, so it was a bit more than what you expect. $1,200. Laurue billet upper receiver, picatinny gas block, PacNor stainless heavy barrel, custom muzzle break, M16 bolt carrier, gas buster charging handle. Carbon fiber fore end overlayed with walnut veneer.

Rock River Arms has basic .458 uppers for about $725.

So gentle a 12 year old can shoot it...

Been thinking about a big bore too. The 30 whisper also has me goin. I just ordered a .243 armalite for vermin. Should have it by the end of the week. Then while I'm in Ak I will have a friend accurize it a bit. then I will have probably close to 3 in it. W/0 the glass. Tired of not getting another round bolted, and having pups escape. This black gun thing is something that never interested me. Its getting to be a bit of a fettish now.
