Its weird to think about the way music has changed from the 70s to 90s. It changed in to the drugs that were popular durring those times if you think about it. 70s pot, lSD, 80's cocaine, 90s heroin, and pills. Haha this makes me miss high school geting old sucks.

Pearl Jam's "10" album was released in 1991. That one album in and of itself fairly well sealed the 90's as a successful decade in music. Alice in Chains, Nirvana, both unplugged no less. Pretty good stuff.

All good albums, indeed. Just wish they'd quit playing the same old 90's songs over and over on the radio. Nirvana "Bleach" and "Incesticide" had some of the best cuts, IMO. But the main stream focus is always "Nevermind," and "In utero", etc. Same goes for Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and a few others who "formed the movement." A lot of real gems on the "B" sides of their albums.
I've always enjoyed "Ween." Nothing makes more sense than eating a few mushrooms and plugging in their "Mollusk" album. Good chit, right there!

Good call on the Modest Mouse, Brad. Still one of my favorite bands. One of the early "indie" pioneers. I tried really hard to hate them in the 90's as the change from grunge to indie seemed a little too drastic. I was soon a believer though when I saw them in the Viking at WWU.

These guys kind of stepped outside the box, and gave us a sound different than we were used to:

In fact, here's another one:

I thought these guys would be huge........

Good submissions so far. I grew up in the 80s but learned to truly appreciate music in the 90s. I loved grunge, and I think Mudhoney was my favorite. About 1993, I really started getting into indie rock. Sebadoh, Unrest, Built to Spill, Guided by Voices, Wilco, Polvo, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion... Way too many others. I was attending college in Austin, so I had opportunities to see a lot of great live music. Good times.

Like tinyelvis, I'm a big Ween fan. Over the years, they have proved to be among the most diverse talents around. Seems there's no style they can't pull off. Heck, they even put out a good country album. This one's not my favorite from that album, but I think everyone on the Dark Side will dig it:

What pisses me off most about the grunge era, is the post grunge era. Bands like Nickelback, Default, Theory of a Dead Man, Creed, etc.
They all have that same horrible, unoriginal sound with really weak/cheesy lyrics and boring, played out riffs. Yet, they sell millions of albums. They all sound pretty much the same, too.

Jar of Flies is a great one.

That was a cool thing about AIC...........they could put you into a trance, or pull you out of it and tear the roof off the place.
