I grew up 18 years living, fishing, and hunting in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming. Not too many better places for that type of lifestyle. I have been a Washington Res for about 7 years. 4 military. I recently have been getting into the Washington wildlife and I was wondering if it is me or is it:
REALLY weird to have Grouse as part of the Small Game Tag??????
I love Bunnies and Grouse but other than that a Tag is worthless to me and for $32. Come on.
In Washington what other birds are out there? Migratory birds excluded, and Pheasant are their own tag also right? So with small game what can I kill? Bird wise.

Tuber, if you can pass on the bunnies and are planning on hunting big game, your big game liscence is good for grouse.

You've just stumbled upon one of the main reasons a lot of people are leaving this place or just giving up hunting. Got to be a gosh darn rocket scientist to figure out what ya can and can't do. Might as well elimante the washington thing and call us california.

rabbits fall under the small game liscence.
didnt think you had to be a rocket science to be able to read. idaho is worse than ours and montana is as hard to understand as ours.

I can't read in circles ! That is the way our reg books are written. Written by lawers and politicians.
You think they could tell what GMU they are in?

Anyone who can't read a map well enough to tell what GMU they're in shouldn't be out there anyway. All it takes is the abilities to read and look at a map. I've seen the regs from other states and as stated above, some are even tougher.

OH OK Not talking maps try reading GMU boundaries in the back of the book.
You need to put in a lot of time studding GMU units before you head out. specially if your hunting the edge of one that has different specs.

Try figuring out the Battle Ground Unit. I hunted there last year AFTER I spoke with a game warden in Olympia. He showed me on my map what he said was the correct pipeline for the north edge of the unit. The map shows three pipelines in the same area. I am at the Sportsman show this spring and look at the GMU maps a vendor has. His maps show a different pipeline. And the state is the one who printed their maps. Dang good thing I didn't shoot anything.
