Scott,

Interesting you should mention Grass Mountain. I was down there chasing elk around over the weekend, and was wondering if you or anybody else knows if there is any public access to this area. We came in from the south through Weyerhaueser White River Tree farm, but couldn't get to some promising looking country a little to the north. Several years ago I tried accessing this area from the Palmer/Selleck/Kangley areas w/out any luck. Any info will be appreciated.

Traut,

Other than the Palmer entrance (first left in town when comong from Kangley) and the entrance through White River off of 410, I know of no other way in there except for through the watershed, which is not possible as of last I heard.
I was able to drive right into the area a couple of weeks ago by going through the Palmer entrance. All the gates were open. Lots of Elk sign on the wooded slopes way back in. Took a nice 5x4 there back in 91. Not sure if the gates are locked down now, but a couple guys I talked to up there said they had been wide open for months.
Wish I could be more help............

Scott,

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind for future reference.
