I am guessing the chances are slim and you shouldn't really lose any sleep over it.

"Haney was to blame for the crash because he was too distracted by his inability to breathe to fly the plane properly."

Yeah, that.

For $429,000,000 each, I think the contractor should fix the problem. I mean aren't these things still under warranty?

Being as these things were made to fight an enemy that doesn't exist yet, shouldn't we sell some to China or perhaps the Iranians so we could have some live target practice?

I find the inability to breathe distracting, too.

Is was the pilots who began calling it the "Raptor cough."

Gotta' love military genius. The Air Force believes the jet is safe to fly because the manufacturer couldn't find out the cause of the problem during the five months the plane was grounded. Yep, if the designer/builder can't find the problem, there must not be one. So I suppose the two air jockeys that crashed and died just weren't very good pilots.

A squadron (guessing) of F-22's and coughing pilots have been sent here...

Eh, it's already ready too late to cause any more serious drain bammage!

Even sucking fumes, I still wanna fly that thing!

Hell - I can't be any worse than the Russian pilot who was controlling that new Russian jetliner that hit the volcano the other day!

Seems they found the voice recorder and here's the last recording:

"Palm Trees and monkeys at 15,800 feet? What are monkeys doing at 15,800 feet"!

Too soon? Eh. That's how I roll! laugh

How can something as simple as an oxygen delivery system be so flaky that pilots are afraid of it?
Hi tech bird and a bottle to mask flaw??????

Yeah, doesn't seem right.
And it's going to take a year to fix, they are saying.

WTF ?
Copy the F16 oxygen delivery system and stop trying to re-invent the wheel !

The oxygen delivery system does seem to be the root of the problem, and Illy, in the case of this plane, not such a simple system. DD is more on track since earlier jets had successful systems. Maybe Lockheed's mistake was in "fixing" something that wasn't broke.

so take the filter out and possibly feed them contaminated oxygen?

WHAT??

simple fix, use one thats proven... oxygen supply systems have nothing to do with the capability, coolness, terror instilling look of a fighter jet... why mess with it?

Hope that fixes it. Of course, if it doesn't, the AF can always consult with RH to get 'er done. Good God, is there anything that dunce can't expound upon?

He does a little aerospace engineering on the side. Plus, his brother's buddy's cousin took an o2 system out of an F-16 and put it in a Raptor several times without incident.
