Yeah, that chartruese over pink has been pretty consistent for you. Is it a candle fish imitation, general baitfish, or . . . ?

I never fish the sound, yet it's right out the back door. Unfortunately the extreme south sound seems to be the least productive part for salmon fishing, altho the local SRC guys do quite well.

Salmo,
The bucktails I use are to imitate specific baitfish. All white, gray over white, or blue, purple or black over white do a good job of imitating herring. Tan or dirty olive over white or pale pink work well for sandlance.
For some reason, coho can't resist chartreuse or pink. Putting them together works well but really doesn't imitate anything. I think the jiggy action of the eyes on a clouser along with the color combo plays a lot into the success of that pattern.

Sad what the south sound coho (MA 13) fishery has become. There are just so many more coho up north it really isn't worth the effort to head south. Having grown up in Tacoma, I'm glad I got to fish it in its heyday. It still produces good days, but nothing like it used to.
The SRC fishing down that way continues to improve every year.
