Was wondering how many of you get out in the late winter and spring looking for antlers.
It is a great way to get exercise and be out in the woods.
Amazing what you see this time of year. beer

I found a matching pair of 6x6 sheds laying next to each other a couple of years ago in July. I alos found a winter kill bull, that I figured got killed in a windstorm when a tree fell on him and pinned him under it. I got the whole skull and horns, 6x5 bull. We seem to find alot during the season, then I catch myself looking on the ground instead of looking for animals..

later

I would love to go out and find some but don't have the first clue on how to go about it.
Anybody want to take a rookie out?

Thanks to Float and Stam....
Stam, your insights and knowledge are truly impressive!
I bet you also fish where the fish are!
Seriously, thanks for any help.
I guess I see it as a good reason to take a hike.

We go out about a week after a snow and find them on top of the snow then as the snow melts away we start going more.

One bad thing about early spring here in the Okanogan is the ground is dark brown and antlers are hard to find. But as it greens up some it is much easier.

Float nice sheds makes me want to find more.

BTW though no one did great here in this area during the deer seasons but somehow we still find lots of BIG antlers makes ya wonder huh? LOL!!!

They dont get big for nothing. I heard of a couple 30 inchers coming out of a couple places in Curlew.
