Just got home with my new part installed. Seems as though it is going to take some time to get back up to partial strength, like 4 to 6 weeks. Lots of pain, lots of bruising blood and other gore. Some parts of the process are truly unimaginable, I guess you just have to go through it.

There is a huge learning process. The number of new drugs, immunosuppressants, anti inflammitory, steriod this that and the other thing. Not to mention the blue ones? (wtf are those for?)

Lab tests tommorow, pharmacy and doctor appointments every other day for the next few months. I hope to get 10 years out of my new kidney. At this point, I am not sure I would do it again.

I appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers and hope to get back out on the water next spring , if not sooner.

See Ya
GutZ

It won't be too long and the surgery will be a distant memory. You'll do well as you have the right mental makeup to plow through the next few months. Better get yourself some of those zipper front waders as your are going to need them.

I'd had always heard that if something bleeds for a week you should just let it die and start over wink pretty sure that didn't have anyuthing to do with kidney surgery though.

Rough night, up every hour draining this and that. Off to see the doctor this morning for lessons in being drugged, more poking and prodding.

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I do appreciate it.

I am sure as the process goes on, this part will seem like more and more of a distant memory (and , oh yeah!, I do have the oxycodone to help wink

Seriously good news, hope you are back doing your voodoo soon thumbs

Wishing you a rapid recovery Gutz! Rapid being a relative term, cuz that's some major surgery you just experienced. Be well. And enjoy the drugs while you can!

Thanks Guys;
I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Doctors say thing are looking good. Still a lot of swelling in my feet and legs. It still hurts quite a bit to move around. I have quit passing blood which to me seems to be a good thing!

I am really fortunate to be here in Seattle. I have met another fellow and his wife who likely got the other kidney. They are from Yakima and are holed up in a hotel for at least a month for the recovery to set in good. For me a 20 minute trip in from home 3 times a week seems pretty easy.

Here is a link to become an organ donor if you are not already. It can have a huge impact on so many peoples lives.
