Get excited everybody. Seems like it is early this year. I am going to be doing my traditional waterfowl shoot, pick cranberries, and this year dig clams. Should be a wet and wild Saturday.

Look forward by looking back.

Anyone have any opener pics floating around?

Just got this scouting report from our hunting area a few minutes ago.

They were in the backyard.

Right to left, widgeon, pintail, and teal. The Pins don't have their plumage this time of year. If it is clear and bright you can pick out the males pretty easily because they will have a hint of red on the head, but if the weather is cloudy we just look for the biggest ones which works about 50% of the time.

I will shoot widgeon this time of year, as they are feeding on a type of grass that grows in the mud flats, in a bout 2-3 weeks that grass is gone and they eat something that makes a lot of them taste gross in that area.

Looks like you won't have to go far RR smile

You are a stud, multi-tasking on Opening Day like that thumbs

I am getting geared up this weekend for the pheasant odyssey next weekend that this year starts in Walla Walla and then heads to South Dakota.

Can hardly wait to see pic.'s of your kids holding single shot shotguns and birds thumbs

Good fun this am. My buddy brought his sons out. 11 and 9 y.o. The 9 just passed his hunter Ed.

I have some absolutely great GoPro footage from this am. Might have to get a YouTube account. We probably only got a little over half our limit but the fun was over the limit. Put it this way when th 9 yo ran out of 20 ga ammo I gave the older one my 12 auto and he gave his younger brother his 12 pump. 50 birds stream into the blocks and they both shoot and get knocked flat on their backs. They are going to love to watch that when they get older.

I also wore a head mount when we jump shot some geese out of a field. Great carnage footage.

Can hardly wait to see the footage. My Ryan and I put a sneak on a deer today. He got to within 10 yards of it. He's 12.

Great work!
This time of year really makes me miss being in the woods or marsh hunting. Someday I hope to get back into it.

Nice hunt D3S. Mallards are delicious.

I put the video from the opener on my Facebook. Will try to find time to get it on Youtube soon.
