All I would like to see is honesty in government.......nothing more....and I really don't give a gawd damn who it comes from.....can I get that? Is that OK with you? Apparently not, because you pander solely to one side.

I'm not a Republican.....I am a centrist....by all standards.....but because there are so many noisy bastard lefty extremists, the center of the road is so far right of the extreme left that you think it is the Right of Center.......

And as an example......check out the thread "Generation Screwed".......if you think that is supportive of the Republicans, you are indeed twisted totally out of sorts.
I didn't write the article, or produce the facts......but there is no argument that young folks are fooked.......and not totally for any one reason.......

I am a believer in a nation of strong character.......not a nation full of characters. You make people responsible by holding them accountable and not making excuses. Liars and cheats and thieves should not be tolerated.....given a chance to change, OK.....but rewarding [Bleeeeep!] behavior and lowering the bar so everybody is a winner is more than unrealistic.....it is damaging to everyone and our nation.

The whistleblower may or may not have a political party affiliation. What got me to thinking more about this is that the DOR director is appointed by the governor. And the director appoints deputy directors. All positions below that are state civil service. It appears that any orders for special treatment or tax exemption are coming from deputy directors (possible so the director can claim clean hands). And WA has had only D govs since 1985. So any special tax treatment in the last 8 years falls directly at Gregoire's feet.

Salmo, the thing about this is that I know that if any entity doesn't pay its share, you and I pick up the tab.

Basically it works like this......the Budget is the driving force....the budget is the amount of money the State says it needs to function in a way that it deems necessary. The money that is supplied to satisfy the budget comes from you and I (over simplified, but easier). If I don't pay my share, for whatever reason, you get to pick up my tab. I realize that you and/or I supply a miniscule amount and even if we both decided "screw you, I ain't paying", it wouldn't even make a dent.......but as stated in the article, when millions of dollars aren't paid, it does make a difference......not so much to the state, who just raises the bill it sends to you and I, but we are the bottom of the "food chain" where it can make a significant difference to us.

I find the article expecially irritating when the Governor leaves the office with an outstanding debt........and then we find out the collections department is playing games with my money.

OK.....There is a barrel named "The Budget" that the State says, "Fill!"
The tax collectors go around and gather up the money to fill the bucket.
When the bucket is full they quit collecting. If I don't pay, you will have to give more to fill the bucket.

My example is grossly over simplified......like we all know the taxes don't quit being collected.....but the amount that will be (as in future tense) collected is an anticipated amount and subtracted from the bucket amount.......making a smaller bucket for you and I to fill. (A behind the scenes type of thing)

Many think that the tax collection is an open-ended number.....i.e., the more you can collect the more you can spend type of thing......not so. The budget is a fixed number......money is collected to satisfy that number. (I didn't want to complicate matters with levy applications, as the end result is the same. Just keep in mind that the levy amount (millrate) is calculated LAST)

At the County level the Formula goes something like this Budget = (value of property) times (levy rate)

Both budget and value are fixed numbers......levy rate is the variable that when multiplied times value produces the budget number (a predetermined amount)
