How many poor inner city black folks do you think are in the NRA? Not really their demographic...maybe they could have gained a bit there.

Good point Todd, that is, of course, the reality. It would just be easier to get on board with a group like the NRA if they actually believed in themselves, and stood for something beyond the point of it becoming inconvenient or unprofitable. Where's the guy that said "give me liberty or give me death" ? I'd prefer a modern age founding father type, to go after fiscal issues and foriegn policy issues before worrying about my right to have a firearm...but I couldn't imagine him letting it slip through the cracks.

I suspect that Patrick Henry would be an NRA member in the current
epoch.
Btw the NRA did force the authorities to return guns confiscated in
Katrina blow. Of course most of them came back covered with rust
and mostly unfixable.
I wonder what 3 million more votes would have done for Bush senior
in the Clinton vs Bush contest.

The point is, the NRA did nothing to protect citizens of the United States from their government during a time of need, it's not even an NRA policy to do anything tangible...ever.
