And tried to get you to go fishing with me on the Green and you always had an excuse not to meet up. If I look around I bet I still have your phone number some where. I just thought your blast at GutZ was uncalled for. I too have had a few friends for years that are gay it don't mean I have to agree with there lifestyle but they are still friends. Yeah Dogfish, it's just the usual friendly banter among those capable of logical thought processes and those who have the surplus energy to get wound up about gay marriage. It continues to puzzle me how this can be an issue to anyone who isn't gay and wanting to get married. It ought to be a non-issue for the vast majority of people. Unless there's some dark secrets they're trying to protect.

It's an issue because some people think the rights of others are just as important as the rights they have themselves.

Did you think the civil rights movement wasn't important because nobody was making you ride in the back of the bus or drink from a different water fountain? Is women's suffrage not important because you're not a woman?

I've thought it through, but I didn't write it clearly. Civil rights is an issue. Coming up with the energy to oppose the civil rights of another seems like it should be a non-issue to me. It takes energy to hate. It takes energy to want to deny another their civil rights. It takes energy to even think that another person is entitled to lesser rights than oneself. Call me an energy conservationist, but I don't have the energy to hate or limiting the rights of others to less than what I afford myself.

It should be a non-issue because all should have basic civil rights. It's only an issue because some, including members here of the dark side, are willing to expend energy energy denying basic rights to certain segments of society.

Hope I expressed it better this time.

The fact is that the social institution of marriage has been modified to please the homosexual community. I sincerely hope that the costs to society, (monetarily and spiritually) are worth it.
