So did I, except for spinning the ball....the getting up part, is called adrenaline. Although he's probably wishing he had some about now. lol

Well said. I've seen positive changes, and not all are going to agree....

I thought professional football is the modern day gladiators. The NFL should increase the violence, not decrease it. Violence sells and sells big in the US. Just look at the appetite for it in this thread alone. The nation that won't stand for a public execution laps up pro football. The ratings would probably go even higher if there was guaranteed bloodshed every Sunday of the season, with regular dismemberment and death on the field. That would also increase the number of job openings in football as well. We have a lot in common with Rome at its apex. Win-win all around.

Dan,

Have you ever seen the Coliseum? From the inside it inspires rage, just for the h3ll of it.

Stam,

I'll never get how Nascar fits in there, but I don't much understand the South at any level.

Except for the fact that the NFL has been attempting to protect the offensive side of the ball for the last decade and the fans keep going to games and watching. TV numbers are way up everywhere so the fans don't seem to mind the change in rules.

IN the case of the Sydney Rice hit, if the defender just uses his arms to wrap Rice up while blasting him with his shoulder, he would stand just as good a chance of separating the ball from Rice and probably wouldn't have drawn a flag either. Standing over Rice after the hit didn't help the defenders case either.

New study released today will change football forever. CTE was found in a disproportionate number of football player brains studied. Something like 68% of footballers had signs of the disease said to be caused by repeated blows to the head. Most blows were probably not concussive. A couple of medical groups will come out short recommending non contact for kids under 14. Once that is validated in the medical community insurance will get real expensive. All of the city leagues and school dist will not be able to afford the insurance against NFL type law suits. Btw it includes heading a soccer ball.

No chit...those poor NFL players just don't make enough money to justify the chances they take.

I mean look at Bob Costas...that guy's a fu.ckin brain dead little douchewad and he never played football. Maybe a little headboard bangin' with him and his boyfriend (not that there's anything wrong with that anymore) but no serious physical activity.

Add Brent Mushberger to that list...

If they didn't play the sport, they shouldn't be able to call the game!!!

The NFL isn't necessary.

The easy way to prevent injury on the football field is to stay off of it.

I think he should have given him and hug and a kiss.

What made it not a good hit? The QB's hat came off? It looked nasty? He didn't just pull the QB's flag to down him?

So tell me, Einstein..........what does a player, or ANY f'n human for that matter, lead with?

Their f'n head!!!

How do you lead with another part of your body?!? Maybe they should launch feet-first, huh? That QB got blown up by that player's shoulder, the head contact was incidental.

Face it, Hank..............you're a soccer fan. Football isn't for you.

I suggest YOU stop watching football because you're too big of sissy.

Soccer is more your game.

Really wanna see what kind balls NFL players have? Have them play in Aussie Rules uniforms.

many of us played tackle football without all the gear. I bet the injury rate, after after an initial spike, would drop. And there would still be hard hits.
