With August just around the corner,what rivers in Washington will be good for Kings? With the Satsop and Hump closed I have to make a major change of plans. No,we won't bring the sled to the Hoh!

They are closed for kings, but not silvers, for that reason this will lower the traffic, oops I just accidently hooked and released another endangered hatchery king, can't seem to keep 'em off. Personally, silver a better eating salmon, and when you get into a ball of silvers, it can be non stop. I will be hitting the rivers in S.W. WA. I skimmed the regs-always a mistake, but what about the Chehalis for kings?

Thanks for the reply Coho. The Chehalis is mainly a trolling river I gather. I like to drift eggs. I was looking for something besides the Samish.(Combat fishing; Helmet, goggles, etc. )

Samish is still slow--actually, it's not all that unenjoyable when there aren't a million rigs on the shoulder, a million guys at your elbow tips, or a million fish in the ditch. Nothing like good clean uninterupted sculpin fishin'! Stood there for four hours 7/14 and didn't even see a fish roll.
They're in the mail tho...

Coho, I have to agree with you. Opps, another 25 pound king, click, nice picture and back to spawn you go....I'm just glad we are allowed to do the catch and release thing in the rivers where kings and coho run together. We may not be able to keep alot of kings this year, but who really cares? I fish for the hook ups, not the meat! I just like having my picture taken with those beautiful fish!

I planned on going to the Hump. I just wasn't telling everyone. LOL

With the lower end of area 7 opening up today, I would have thought there would be fish in the Samish by now, unless there aren't any to go up the river. WDFW biologists sure are not checking very many fish inside. PI sports section said on Thursday, fishing was fair at best, I would say POOR at best. We fished hard for 2 days on the South side of SanJuan( Eagle-Pile Lime quarry and Open Bay), we managed one one Saturday, never saw another fish caught and could not find another boat that had a fish. Good killer whale show in the morning. When we checked in at Bellingham at 6:00 PM, checker had only saw 1 other fish all day. A couple of friends were out 4-5 days in seperate boats and only had 1 fish between them.

Hey, King of Nisqually. Been to several areas just looking around from the bar below I-5 to the hatchery to Muck Creek to the tank crossing brige. Seen a fellow latch onto an Atlantic adjacent to Muck Creek last week! Have also been snooping around McCalister from I-5 upstream (trying to locate spots that are hard to get to (won't be overly crowded later next month). Drop me a line and we'll talk about what works and what doesn't and last year's hot spots along with some "98 hot spots that are now full of snags. Been bouncing to test the bottom.
