Axes, Hammers, Geetars, whatever you want to call them... without them, we wouldnt have anything.... from new to vintage, cheap to expensive, they all get my love....

anyone else a collector/player around these parts?

here is the picture i posted on the other stupid thread that was deleted...

the dead giveaway one i was talking about it the one on the left, its your run of the mill 80s Fender "American Standard" (USA made, not the Mexico one) Strat.... the one on the right however, is a true gem, its a 1953 Martin (the LEGENDARY Martin) 00-17... all mahogany body and neck, not a well know guitar by any means... and you dont see a ton of em for sale either, there are a few around tho, just not as many as say a D-18 or D28, or any of the newer HD models and such...

my uncle has a very very rare gem, i dont have a picture of it tho, atleast not that i know of around here, there could be 1 my dad took tho not sure.... its a 1935 Martin 000-18 "Herring Bone", a man by the name of Leo Kottke (you may have heard of him) was trying to buy it from a store in the 80s, the price was 3500 at the time, which was a huge steal for a guitar like that, well, my uncle with the help of my dad swooped in and got it before Kottke could... that guitar now is past 75k dollars...he has a couple more pre war Martins that are past the 25k dollar mark as well, and a D-28 thats past 50k... ill get some pics from my brother at some point...

anways, a good friend of mine is a Luthier, and builds some extraordinary guitars... he started his own company Elemental Guitars, but hes still working for his old one... heres some pics of some of the work he has sent me to check out and show folks...

this one is Howard Leese's (guitarist from Heart) he actually helped start the company that this was done at

this is Jerry Millers' (Moby Grape) 62 Gibson L5, this is before he started tearing it down for resto, ill have to find the other pics

here is Chet Atkins old Gretsch F hole, one of the family members sent it to my friends shop a couple years ago for some resto so they could put it in a museum somewhere... i believe this is the finnished product

heres a shot of his Abalone/Mother of Pearl inlay work on the fretboards.. these are all hand cut, and inlayed, they are not produced by anyone...

the rest of these are just some work hes done, run of the mill, everyday type work, albeit superb custom work....

this one is a custom guitar model they build, its called the "Montserrat", and no, the Gibson Les Paul has nothing on this guitar, it will blow any one of them away

these last ones are of his personal guitar that he built, and no Gibson has NOTHING on this guitar either... top grade everything is used as always... weve actually BS'd about me buying this one, dont think i will, i have enough guitars...

i do have 2 more guitars that arent here right now, one is at my brothers, and the other is at my buddys with the studio... one is my 1978 Takamine dreadknot style guitar, they call it a "Jumbo", and the other is a 1967 Lyle (Gibson sub company) "Dove", i actually have to have Jeff do some work on the Lyle, so i gotta get it back here pretty soon... ill post pics when its finnished...

anyone else have any? also if you want any work done, let me know, it can be arrainged....

Have a Yamaha Dreadnought I bought in 1973, I believe it is an L1011.
Have to go look to be sure. Also bought a Yairi Classic in '73. My favorite.
Nice photos btw.

Yairi's are nice guitars, depending on which one made it... what is yours labeled on the headdstock Illy?

here is one of Joe Satriani's Ibanez's that my buddy did some work on for him... he signed it "3 of 4" and i believe will be auctioning it for benefit of some charity... this was actually played on tracks hes done...

heres another slick custom he did

got a sh!tload more photos, may upload some more not sure yet... some very unique guitars as well... Jeff will also possibly be doing some work on that red/burgundy Strat of mine, im thinking of swapping the stock pick ups out for some hand wound ones from the UK, but they are like 400 euros, so i havent pulled the trigger on it yet...

the first picture are both my guitars... and as i said, i have 2 more that arent here now... the rest is work that my friend did, and was showing anyone that may want some work done... hard to find geniune Luthiers today, mostly they are just hackjobs with a tube of glue that know a little about guitars...

please just leave me alone...

i already have 4 guitars, if you want to get technical, the stripped down Lyle ES 335 knockoff would make it 5 guitars...

as of right now, that Martin is in the 5k dollar range, and goes up every single year... you were talkin sh!T about what again?

The Yamaha is an L20A and the Yairi is by S Yairi. I have no idea of their
monetary value. I like them, they allow me to abuse them and don't
complain.

Don't worry about the dregs RH. There are a few civil ones hereabouts.
You are doing pretty good with that new camera.

prettly slick Kazoo DF... unless you are converting it to a pipe wink

Silvertones are cool guitars, another friend of mine owns one, along with a Supro...

i have love for all gits, but the old stuff really gets me goin... i still have a Fender amp from the 60s i need to grab as well, already sold the 69 Super Deluxe Reverb, and the 66 Deluxe Reverb amp...

sold the 66 to one of the founders of Valley Arts Guitars, wich is a subsidy of Gibson, but do custom builds, not the general run of the mill out the door guitars... when he came over, he brought his personal Les Paul, and the thing was slick...

you can read about VA a bit here, Hank, they are from where you hail statewise, and almost area wise... Al's a good dude...

I started out many years ago with a Gibson ES300 hollow body, then went to a Takamine 360 dreadnaught, then to the current Martin D-28 which I have owned since 1978. The bad thing is I cant play for sour owl sh!t, but I dont let that stop me. Tonite is the first time I have taken a pic of the Martin. Some nice stuff in your pics RH.

i didnt troll sh!t, you clicked it... you trolled yourself...

nice LP Steel, looks aged, what year is it? (by aged i mean the nickel on the pick up covers and back brace) the old ones can fetch a nice sum these days... same with the F hole guitars from the 50s and 60s...ill take a better pic of the strat tommorow, i dont feel like messing with it right now... its kinda a plum/burgundy/candy apple type paint...

nice...

heres a couple more of the Strat, its hard to describe the color, it does change with light (not like chamelion paint) so its difficult for me to get a good photo of it inside our house... as you know, i live in a horse trailer and have to use candles to provide light, so you will have to work with me till tommorow when i can get a shot in daylight that might better represent the color...

if a $600 pentax can take a picture of a duck, surely it can take a decent picture of a guitar under candle light in a horse trailer...

The guitars that you and others have pictured are really beautiful instruments. I don't play, but can appreciate the craftsmanship in those guitars and enjoy looking at them.

This thread started with "Hatchets"; might end with one...
