Interesting that the local news reports it differently than I read it originally. I read the blade length as no more than 2.3 in. long, but saw on the news "less than 3 in.", complete with pictures of knives with at least 3 in. blades, and lock-back to boot.
Also reporting were people afraid of knives on planes, didn't see one passenger interviewed who wasn't concerned.
Since I have carried knives ever since grade school......including to grade school, and recall only one incident of a stabbing in Junior High, I'm more concerned with whether or not someone crapped all over the john than I am about those tiny "blades".

The day of someone taking over a flight with a knife of any size are over. Likely no reason to have one on the plane but come on now. What flight will ever let that happen again even with a 2 foot blade.

Given the US Marshal's likely presence on a flight, that other thread would apply....

If your on a flight over the continental US and someone tries to hijack the plane, your best option is to fight the hijacker to the death, because as soon as the FAA calls it a hijacking, AIM 120 missile lock will soon follow.

I just paid $50, yet again, to check a bag each way just to have a place to put my knives while traveling by air. Did I mention I hate TSA? I was so pleased to read yesterday that they're thinking of relaxing the stupid f'n knife rule, and then astounded to read that so many people are opposed to allowing knives on airplanes. What gives? The hijacking paradigm has been forever changed. No one will ever again hijack an airliner with knives, box cutters, or even guns - unless they have enough ammo to kill all the passengers. Only idiot travelers would sit idly by while hijackers fly them to their deaths when they could instead fight. Oh well. I figure I've got over $400 dollars in baggage fees invested in my Swiss Army knife by now, since it travels with me everywhere. The other folders fly for free that way. Doesn't everyone carry a knife? I give my daughters knives for Christmas. Hell, everyone needs a knife. G D TSA.
