Im wondering what everyone on this BB likes to use to fish for steelhead. My rig is a ten and a half foot Browning noodle rod rated for two to six pound test. The reel I use is a Shakespier Meadilist spooled with one hundred yards of eight pound test ultragreen. For terminal tackle I use a dink float a four pound three foot leader and a Gamatzu size two hook with eggs for bait.

For jig fishing-a custom 12' Loomis GL3 spinning rod with a shimano Symetre reel spooled with 12lbs Excaliber line, for summer I run a 13' Loomis with the same reel and 8lbs Excaliber line. For drift fishing-a 9 1/2ft GL3 with a Shimano Chronarch loaded with 12lbs Maxima, baits vary but I prefer shrimp.

Winter steelhead I use a 1025C IMX with a Calcutta 251 loaded with 12lb maxima ultra green and 10 lb leaders. I also use a 1084c IMX with a curado loaded with 10lb main line. Baits are sand shrimp or boraxed eggs. I also toss spinners with either rod. For summer steelhead or low water winter fishing I either use a 1082 C IMX with a calcutta 151 or an 1141S IMX with a stradic 2000, both rods have 8lb maxima. I use 6 lb leaders in the sumer. I like #12 and 14 corkies with little tufts of yarn and procure sandshrimp oil. When Im pulling plugs I use 2 Lamiglas GSH 90 1MTs ( 7'6" 8-17lb line) withabu black max 3600s loaded with 12lb maxima.
So i gues you could sa I really dont have a favorite rig. I use what the water conditions and fishing situations dictate. Lately Ive been messing wiht float fishing, I have a 10'6" loomis gl2 I use for that.
