Was thinking about trying the wynoochie this weekend and was wondering if anyone was having any luck. Also what is the best drift for a boat and any thing I should look out for? Any info would be appreciated. Thanx and tight lines

No reports lately, might be fishable bank access limited, try lower to start if no luck go up high.. tight lines

Unless they close down the dam discharge, you might as well forget the Nooch unless you're one of them thar plunkin' guys.

Should be good once the water falls but the lake is still REALLY high, and they could be blowing water thru the dam for several more days......

One of the best floats is from the old white bridge to the Black Creek ramp. Be aware that there is some kind of diversion dam about a mile above the take out. In low water-the cfs I had was 550!-there is just enough water to pull the boat over. I don't know how hazardous this may be in high water like now,does anybody else know?

AT THE LEVEL THE RIVER IS NOW YOU CAN FLOAT RIGHT OVER THE DIVERSION DAM.KEEP TO THE LEFT IF THE LAST HIGH WATER DIDNT PUT ANY LOGS THERE,THE RIVER IS TOO HIGH FOR FLOATING BUT PLUNKING WOULD BE A GOOD BET I HAVE CAUGHT FISH RIGHT AT SOME OF THE LAUNCHS WAITING FOR THE TURN AROUND RIG!!!!!!

The Nooch is still pretty high, over 6 ft at Black Creek, WAY too high to drift. If you've got a plunking bug, right up tight to the bank under the new bridge at Black creek, or tight against the bank at the very TOP end of the stretch just above Black creek are good bets. Any other clues and my plunking friends might throttle me...........

I would say a big fat NO to the Nooch this weekend. My Dad has property just above the spillway (most guys call it the diversion dam) and we spent the weekend cleaning up his cabin from the flood. If it stays REALLY REALLY cold for the rest of the week maybe you might be able to get a drift in. I wanted to make a drift this weekend too, but no luck with signs so far. Put in at the crossover bridge and make the float down to black creek. It's a good float and alot of good holes and cover water to hit. I've floated this stretch so many times I could do it in my sleep. There's a nice long slot near the walk across bridge (the decripid one) to pull plugs through. Just pray and maybe you'll get your Xmas wish. I'd assume that even if water came down (if it does they'll release the dam those fargin eyesholes. I've had many a times I've been on a float to have river come up quickly. Maybe I'll see you on the river this weekend, but probably not........tight lines

Thanx for the info guys. Doesn't sound like I'll be floating it this weekend unless things change. What is the Max flow rate and level that the river can be floated and still have decent fishing on? Tight lines

Looked at it today-still a little high and pukey color. The lake above is full of mud and will take 2-3 weeks to clear itself out if the passed 2 or 3 years is any indication. That, of course is barring anymore monsoons.

Drifted the top end yesterday. Water was close to fishable so we gave it our best shot. Nothing happenning. Plunkers at black creek may have been getting a couple. Ther were 7 or 8 guys fishing at the ramp. Good luck.
