I enjoy fishing the Satsop and Wynooche rivers but the quality of fishing I have found can really change if the nets are in or out of the Chehalis. (like that is something new to anybody and their favorite river) I was woundering where I can find out when they will have the nets in and when they will take them out? I have talked to people and they will say "ya they are going to be putting them in next thursday". How do they know that? is there a www. that gives this info?
thanx,

I can tell you the net schedule and sucess. For the last 3 weeks only 4 coho and 2 steelhead have been delivered. There may be some take home but at 80 cents a pound not many are going to fish. I don't know the Chehalis tribal catches or sucess though.

Some of my favorite rivers also... For information regarding these rivers call:
John Long at 1-360-249-4628 ext. 211
He is the harvest management guy for Willapa and Grays Harbor...nice guy to talk to.

I think it's correct to say nets are fishing. That seems the common term used by everyone, and it's also nice to be able to get the schedules. Thanks Potter.

I have noticed that the common net schedule in the rivers I fish are from Sun-Wed. Who determines this schedule? Is there a specific time allotment that nets can be in the rivers that the state determines? Or is this decision left for the tribes to make on when the nets are in? Thanks

Intense........how often the Quinaults fish is up for negotiation every year. But dates are usually determined by them, but you can usually check your tide book and determine when they are going to be in, long run in and they will be there. The last couple of years this tribe has mellowed a little, hope this trend continues. Just wish we could stop them from going after the sturgeon during the spring Chinook fishery. We need to find a baby sturgeon in the Chehalis to accomplish this...that would be proof that they breed in the river...right now it is determined that they are all purely migratory. I know this because I found a baby sturg at friends landing one time...abouit 1.5" long and later mentioned it to the person in charge of harvest mgmt at the time and they just cringed and told me if that ever happens again to bring it to them!
