Love to give you a report but even though I live fairly close to the river(Auburn) I never fish it. Does it have a hatchery on it? I'd actually like to start fishing the Puyallup but I have no idea where to begin.

Wish I knew more. I wonder where they plant the fish, in the Carbon?

Don't be too disappointed if there are few fish this year. If the dismal marine survival of coho is an indicator then there probably won't be many early winters returning either.

The smolts are planted from the Voight Creek hatchery. This is an old salmon hatchery which has just recently started steelhead production. I grew up fishing the Puyallup and caught my first winter-run there over 40 years ago. It's not too scenic but it still has a soft spot in my heart.

Spent a few hours on the P.U. last friday at the bar below the sportsmans club bridge. Water was somewhat high and clear. Saw one boat and an old dead chum.Didn't touch a fish. Hope they're just a little late! See ya there.

A buddy and I fished a few hours this AM. No fish! Heard of a couple yesterday but didn't see anything today. Lots of wind but still a nice day. The road going into the launch across from Anton's is rough but not blocked. Two boats took out there today.
