I just got the new cone hone hook sharpner from Mister twister. I wanted to try it out on the new out of the package gamakatsu hooks to see if the sharpner works as well as it claims. The point does get a lot sharper then out of the box but it seems that it will also weak the tip, I wont know till I go out and test the hook on a fish but the sharpner shure does make a nice needle point.

the sharpener works great, but I never touch a lazer sharpened hook right out of the package. in my opinion the don't get any sharper. give 'em an hour or two banging rocks and sticking lips before you sharpen them yourself...just my .02 good luck!!!

I'm with Erik, They dont get any sharper than a new Gammy...Be patient, they'll get dull. I still always go back to the yellow handled Luhr Jensen.

well i agree with erik and bob i wouldn't touch a hook like a lazer sharp or a gammy right out of the package, wait till you bounce it off a few rocks or stick a few fish before you touch it.

FISH ON!!!

I will always sharpen my new hooks. Belive me they can get sharper. Like a knife blade point instead of a needle point. Just my .02.
