It must be a VW thing. Did a google image search for single wheel trailers and there were all sorts of different styles behind bugs and busses. The shape of his was probably his unique take. Low and lite loads with a short a short tongue seem safe to me, like a Can- Am. There were a ton of motorcycles towing single wheel trailers too.
