It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Loomis,

There used to be pretty decent fishing on the canal rivers, both for steelhead and salmon, but due to intense commercial fishing the big wild silvers are all but gone, and the steelhead runs aren't far behind. There is still a smattering of fish (steelhead) in all the canal tribs, but you should expect to catch nothing and have a day of solitude unless you're fortunate. If you are fortunate, the fish there are feisty bastards.

I can't tell you any more than that, for fear of bodily harm from fishing acquaintences, but really it's a no-brainer. Head north on 101, and look for rivers. They're all right there as you head north toward PA and you can pretty much tell which roads will give you river access.

You won't have much company on these rivers because, like I said, there aren't many fish there. But hey, sometimes a day fishing without company and without a fish hooked is alright.

Fish on.........

Loomis,

I kinda figured you might get this type (lack of?) response about thiese rivers. The reason being that they are all small rivers with difficult access, so they don't hold up well to any amount of fishing pressure. The guys that do fish them only do so to escape the mad houses elsewhere and aren't looking for any company on these small waters.

This is why I only gave you some vague info. I figure if you like solitary fishing with what I'd call meager prospects (unless you invest the time to REALLY learn them) then you'll venture up there and take a look for yourself. Some guys would take offense that I said anything at all about them, but they'll get over it.

Good luck if you do make it up along the canal......

Fish on......
