I met Oprah today at work here in Seattle (can't say where). She is MUCH shorter in person than one would think. She's quite small actually and not all that heavy. She was very gracious and pleasant. She had a football team of enormous men surrounding her at all times.

Nate - you see what happens when you get out of bed and get a good job? You get to meet celebrities for [Bleeeeep!] sake!. You get to meet F'in OPRAH GOD DAMN IT!!!! moose

With no intention of being a dick or beating a dead horse- Nate, at your age with such a gap in employment history, you will be inapplicable for even the Wal-Mart greeting job I promised you. I know you make a little money selling bammer, but dude! It would be in your best intersest to find and take any job you can find just to show a verifiable work history when the day comes that you need an income to actually support yourself. If you aren't scared shitless of your future you are even dumber than I thought. For the sake of entertainment, where do you think you will be in ten years? And how and why do you suppose you will arrive there?

dont believe it Chuck, i have nothing to prove to any of you... all it would take would be a little searching and you could probably connect the dots...

ill be wherever i want to be in 10 years fruit pop... i know some of the best carpenters, and superintendants, and company owners on the west coast... you being in the lumber/wood business and all, you may want to watch it Chris... then again, im a joke right?

i was in college, working full time, building houses for CFOs and Lawyers, Program Designers, owners of fish companies, Seahawks, huge car dealership owners, some very very wealthy people... so wealthy, they would level a 10k square foot house that was worth 10 million, to build a 12k square foot house that was way more...

then, sh!t hit the fan for me, in more ways than just my dad dying, so mind your own fvcking business, because you dont know what the fvck you would do in my shoes, because you have never LIVED IT... so stop acting like it....

read my second sentence Chuck...

Jake, constructive criticism is not beating the fvck out of someone each and every day, telling them how sh!tty they and everything they do is, calling them names, saying they arent as "good" as you (pride) at anything they or the other does, talking sh!t about their moms, GFs, other family members, laughing at them for the purpose of what? thats not constructive, thats destructive...

and you still havent beat me down... because you cant.. i already told you that...

you know something Jake, i mean sh!t, everyone here knows how i am... but ive heard the stories about you before you moved to Hawaii, i dont know if they are true and whatnot, but you got razzed by everyone for not having a GF and a job and sh!t...

i would have been the first one to defend your ass too if i was here, because its noones business what your personal life is... and its certianly nothing to make fun of because a person may or may not be struggling with something....

i defended YBD's bitch ass when he went on the bottle after his chick couldnt put up with his drunken stupidity, and look where that one got me rofl

point is, just mind your own business if you wouldnt want the same to be happening to you... (karma)

yeah, its entertainment to a point Jake... then it just becomes alot to deal with... still here tho wink

also, your words where something to the effect of " i will no longer give you sh!t like i do now"... that says nothing about family... if it was just about family, i would have gladly said fvck off, because my family gets talked sh!t about on a daily basis, so what would i have gained by you stopping?

ive never smoked ice either, thats a problem in Hawaii, not Washington...

and i would love to get a job, there is nothing else i would enjoy more than to come back and say i told you so.... just like always...

WTF? The meth problem here is worse than Hawaii, just drag little baggies of ice through trailer parks and they will come right out of the woodwork.

I think I've figured out that people raggin' on Nate suffer from envy. See, Nate does have a plan. For now he lives with and off his Mom, and he can fish most every day so long as it isn't more than one gallon of gas away from the trailer. His long term plan seems to be for GF Katie to finish school and get her nursing credentials. Once she is making a decent income, Nate will be the ultimate "kept man" and get to fish anytime he wants, that Katie approves of. And his fishing radius might increase to 4 or 5 gallons of gas if Katie makes good money and they keep their housing expenses low by living in a single-wide. Seriously, many of us talk - jokingly - about how cool it would be to be a kept man with enough money to fish whenever and wherever we wanted. And any man would do this in a heartbeat, provided he is OK with being known as a deadbeat. And Nate is the only guy I know of who is OK with advertising his deadbeat status on the www.

Hey Neighbor Nick, had a good time Meeting ya when Don was in town and I'd still like to get together and fish ..as soon as I am done with this remodel at the house I'll have some more fishing time and I'll look ya up.

That's kinda Cool you got to meet Harpo(Oprah) ..Know how she got that name? I used to know Sally Jesse Raphael's son before he comitted suicide, and SJR gave Oprah that name because its her name spelled backwards and it's a Harpo the Orca whale reference..she was really overweight back then and it was part of the mudslinging amongst those fighting for higher ratings between daily shows on TV. Anyways, Her son told me Orpah got really upset about SJR calling her that name, but then Oprah beat her at the game by naming her production company Harpo Productions..../ramble.

You speak of my ponies, their tricks and Karma. I've said it five million times, but you also get what you put out. If you didn't act the way you did or showed effort as a huMAN things would change quickly. You said I was a fraud too. If that means that I went back on an apology, you had it coming.

Lastly we are at my karma. I was at the door of my building the other day after a long day of fishing, carrying three rods and all of the other [Bleeeeep!] that comes with being a ocd ridden angler. Beat tired. As soon as I step in the door I am approached by a methed out chick around my age soaking wet from the down poor we were in. She begged me to give her a ride. I asled where and she said "the ghetto". Crazy. I took her ass there and let her stink u p my passenger seat and listen to her spout about her many proble
ms. We arrived at our destination and were greeted by an Impala on some big ass nate style rims.

I never asked her for any money, a bobo or even as much as a hand jibber. She may have beenshocked or ddisappointed, I dunno. Anyways she went on for about 5 minutes discussing karma and that I had a lot of the good variety headed my direction. I was stoked!

That my little shitstain on the earth is where karma is earned. Or showing character when no one is watching. *Not keeping some lazy, arrogant know it all in check on a discussion board. You have many life lessons to learn. I suggest you get to it before it's too late. If not already.

Hey SG -

Great to hear from you. Sounds good and I'd love to get together even if its just for a beverage (fishing would be even better!). I'm trying to get prepped for winter fishing, but I've just been slammed with two jobs (white collar on the weekdays and blue on the weekends. Kinda fun and the best of both worlds). I haven't had a true day off in a couple of months, but things on my side should calm down soon and I hope they do on your side as well.

apology? you never apologized, you just became a typical "follower", just like all the other idiots in the school yard, and figured you would join the "cool" crowd, and start in on me... i defended your ass remember? i tried to talk to you remember? you told me sh!t and told me not to say anything, and i didnt remember?

what did i do?

i came in, told people to leave you alone, and maybe they should talk to you about what you were going through, to learn the real story, i told them to be empathetic huMAN's, because NOONE is perfect... basically, subverting the sh!t against you, and directing it to me, so that you could be happy for a change, and maybe get your mind off of what you were dealing with...

and this is the thank you i get...

well your welcome Chris, id do it again as well...

also, unless you have seen and gone through what i have in my life, keep your fvckin mouth shut about life lessons... you are preachin to the pope in that aspect... and i dont want to even hear a hint of it, because its all horsesh!t...

If you took a lesson in humility (you have very few reasons to be so co. y and spou t off so much "knowledge") and accepted criticism., admited faults etc., you would be a crowd favorite. People wanna see you do well or they wou ld have given up on calling you out. You doing every thing in your power to tell everyone they know nothing doesn't helo your case.

In real life, hear or other have you ever said in any way " you know what dude? You're right. Maybe I do need work or maybe it is this/that."? Or is it always how you see it. Every opinion formulated about you is wrong. They don't know [Bleeeeep!]. In reality, we know far more abou t you than any member on the board.

I refuse to see this as me being a bully or a bad person. Never once have I saw Nate as an easy victim or someone who was dealt less cards than me. I have never met someone so sire of themself with such an inability to take tough love/advise and kick and fight in my entire life.

For the sake of the thread and personal growth-tell us or yourself three ways in which you think you could improve to make your life better or the life of someone else.

I'll start. 1.) I really need to not be so mean and hateful to a select few at work. I know how long your day can be when someone is a dik and some people just are stupider than others and my boss shouldn't have hired them in the first place!!! Bit everyone needs a job (breeeeathe). 2.) I need to visit my mom and dad more. They love and miss me and enjoy my company. Especially my mom. As part of that I need to be a better big brother to my younger brother. Hige generational gap. 3.) Get my chit together. I hhave a credit card I use for little things, splurges, fishing stuff etc. Today I used it and I was declined. Looked on line and saw I had used all they agreed to lend me. Maxed out a $5k credit card at ahem 30% interest. Not my brightest moment. I am terrible with financial responcibilities and saving money.

I feel better.

ok I'll play.

1. I need to be a better, more attentive friend to the few good friends I have. I get caught up in life and don't stay in contact as I should.
2. I need to settle down. I need to find a really good woman. My problem is that I am too much like Seinfeld and am way too picky (man hands!), but I also don't want to settle.
3. I need to FAP more often. Fap'ing is good for your health and mental well being. I need to buy more candles and incense.

3. I need to FAP more often. Fap'ing is good for your health and mental well being. I need to buy more candles and incense.

it's no fap november though.

I know I shouldn't ,but I have to ask.what has Nate done to all you guys to deserve this treatment ? It really sounds from a outsider looking in that he must have killed one of your buddies while he was high on crack. Seriously, why the hate? I have a question about the employment issue.how many people do you know that really enjoys what they do for a living ? Also when all you guys talk about being employed, why not also share what you do and how much you make.because you may be employed but not like your job or make minimum wage.i mean if your going to talk [Bleeeeep!] you may as well back it up. I may have to go back and read some old threads by Nate/Redhook and get a feeling for all this hatred you guys spew out at him. I do not know him personally but if you were reading this thread as I am,uniformed.you would think he is the mature one and most of you have huge issues. But that's just me.and yes I have been at the same job for 26 years and hate it.but I tell myself it could be worse. Just my 2 cents worth.and I know it don't mean [Bleeeeep!].

Bustin' -

This is the Dark side and think of us as loving big brothers. I like Nate and I think most do. I would fish with Nate. We give him [Bleeeeep!] because of that very fact and want him to succeed. Nate does fuel the fire because he likes to fuel the fire. It takes two to tango and that's about it.

My career and what I earn is of no consequence to this discussion. I am sorry you hate your job. Most people do and I have my days as well. We all just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

PEACE,

-Nick

i have one fault i cant change...

i should have went upstairs and said i love you, but didnt because i assumed i would have said it in a couple hours anyways...

things dont always work out the way they should tho... thats one life lesson you will never forget either...

2.... i need to stop trusting everyone, and letting people walk all over me, thats part of the reason im an asshole...

3..... yeah, i need a job... i have never once said i didnt, or wouldnt...

4.... i need to forget about the past... all of it.... and all the people that did what they did... all of them...

5.... i need to start treating myself better... because if i dont, i will never be happy again...

6.... i need to slow down sometimes, cuz my legs start kickin too fast, then i look like a midget on PCP doing the Running Man...

7..... and this ones just for sh!ts and giggles... i need to use my dads fvcking rods, because i know hes pissed that all his sh!t just sits there, because its too "hard" for me to enjoy, and i dont apply myself like he and i know i can... i always take the easy route... and thats usually never the best road....

nate - you need to move #5 to #1. It starts with you and works outward. A happy and healthy Nate won't worry about 1/2 that other [Bleeeeep!].

So Nate.I read in one of your threads you have no job because you have no reliable vehicle? I say if you all want to help Nate succeed, let's start a little fund for him.i have connections in the car business. Some good friends of mine either own new car dealers or used car lots. I think we could get you a very nice wholesale rig for a thousand dollars or so. Then when you start working and get back on your feet you can pay it back or forward.how ever you choose. Let's see who wants to really help you.i understand this is the dark side but maybe the guy really needs dome help and serving how the holidays are almost upon us,we can help someone that may possibly need it. Don't flame on me.just putting this out there.

I'll throw in $100 if he'll take it.

Jeezus - if I start a random thread about Oprah (who gives away cars) and Nate ends up with a F'in car, I will declare myself winner of the internets and retire with the belt.

Nate -

I also know of a job opening that's coming up that I think you would really like (general PS area). You won't get rich, but the money and work ain't bad at all. I'll chat with the boss tomorrow as to what he's looking for. Of course, we would need to meet in person and chat first before I can give any recommendation, only because I take my recommendations to my friends very seriously. Hope you can understand that. Send me a PM if interested.

I will also toss in a hundred and handle the vehicle side of it. Nate,I can also get you hooked up to get one of your vehicles running at a great discounted price on parts and labor.look,if you need help.plenty of people on this board would probably help a brother out. Don't be too proud to except some help.you would not be the first or the last to just say,yes I could use it.

Damn cool of you guys. Like I've said Nate, its one thing having a skill and holding at for what yoi think you deserve, but having steady work experience is paramount these days. There's more competition every day. I'm not at my dream job by any means, but I know it will ultimately help me in the long run whenever I find what that dream job is. You talk about not being happy, I guarantee you'd feel better about yourself having a job and responsibility. Ill leave it alone for now. But you should feel fortunate and greatful someone would actually sticktheir neck out like these guys to try and help you move forward. Pretty amazing and rare.

Subaru's for only the last 26 years.i actually am a fully factory trained Subaru tech.and those 2.5 dual cam motors you speak of I have rebuilt i would guess close to 200. So I probably know a little about Subaru's . Best all wheel drive passenger car you can buy. Bar none. So if you want you can PM me and I will give you my number and we can discuss your problems with your car. Going to bed now,but will check back in morning. I met Dan on Allen's bar once upon a time. If I recall correctly, he and his pals loaned me a bigger net which came in pretty handy at the time. I remember thinking he was good people back then. Seems like maybe that thought wasn't misguided. Good on ya Dan.

It's your life Nate, but after sleeping on it have you decided to accept BB and Nicks help? You're a grown man and can make your own decisions, but I really think you would be doing yourself a great disservice by not at least meeting Nick and taking a shot. Once you get work, no matter how bad the job may be, it gets the ball rolling and you'll want bigger and better things. I know you have too much pride as you have stated, but opportunities like this down pop all the time.

i called Dan and he didnt answer, i will call him again...

it depends on what Nick does, and where he does it, and yes, how much it pays, because it costs money for gas to travel in this state, and theres no point spending 200 dollars a week for a 400 dollar pay check... yeah, you all will say "its better than zero", but it is kinda stupid if you look closely...

i had to decline quite a few jobs over this year, because i couldnt get to them...

20+ an hour jobs...

they are still there tho i think, they are friends and family and all

Nate, on a serious note...Boeing in Everett is always hiring, you'll start out at 14-15 hr, but in 5 years you'll be making 34-36 hr depending on Cola and CBO's. That's what I did after I lost my job of 12 years..nine years ago. You have to pay your dues. You will have to come up with some bogus work history to fill your gaps...that shouldn't be too hard with some creativity. Gas prices are dropping too. Just do it!

$200 a week with a subaru could get you a job in fuking Montana! $400 a week after taxes is about what I'd expect or more.

If you wanna get in shape, make good money and do a little traveling, you should look into roofing. Commercial roofing that is. I did it for a while and we did mostly thermo plastic roofing. If you have the skills you say you would be applicable, you're still young. I made good money but I tried to throw my foreman off a roof one day and we went seperate ways. I called in sick with the flu, the one and only time I had, one the day they happen to be doing evaluation and were giving $4/hr raises. I was a damn good worker and was told I would have to wait until next quarter. I almost had Steve thrown over the roof when I snapped out of it. Yelled and kicked [Bleeeeep!] and that was it. Still pisses me off thinking about it. Anywho, I was out of shape and scared when I started. My back felt like it was broken the first month but after you build strength and find ways to get through the day its kind of awesome..

Some of thise jobs pay prevailing wage at $40+/hr.
And there were many over 34, but it ain't for eveyone.

my dream job is going back to doing what i was doing...

and all the people i know because of my dad, well, that wont be a problem...

i also have friends that own their own companies, in the same work i have been doing, landscape construction and home construction, but they all live close to me, within 30 minutes...

im 1.5 hours away from Seattle where i live, going with no hickups... now factor in traffic, and what do you get?

i should have the job part under control, and if not, Nick will be the first person i talk to... but i got this...

and fvck roofing, im not good with heights and pitches, i had to install flashings on 3 story condos and 8 story apartments, and it wasnt fun at all.. thats not me saying anything bad, im sayin fvck that sh!t, that aint for me...

I worked on flat roofs generally. Plastics on big chit. Mostly layers of insulation, glie down the edges and throw some screws down. Occasionally you would get cheap cousties who wanted us to throw tar down and essentialy roll the plastic down. That sucked worse and was more scary than I can relay through text. All the tar wen down like an ocean at once. They didn't want it getting on the clean white plastic finish. It was slippery as fuk, before I had worked there a guy had to get across to somewheres and stepped in the molten chit and slipped and fell right on his face. Didn't get his face I don't think but melted his clothes on to him and did bad damage to his arms. They always made us where long sleeve blue shirts when we worked with the stuff. Made the day hot as hell, but offered a chance for the tar to cool when it inevitably hit your arms.

I had two heat strokes or exhaustions, while I worked for them. We partied pretty fuking hard though. Had a couple Irishman that were in my small crew and they taught me how to get drunk. Played a game called tomo todos (sp) a lot that was fun. Anyways, the drinking I'm sure was partially responsible for the heat, but on two occasions I went into puking fits and hit the ground and my ENTIRE BODY became cramped. Always happened when I got into my air conditioned hotel. Actually that happened several times to a lot of us and we drank mpre water than was safe while working. They saI'd the white roofing was mirror like and added 30 degrees to the heat under the sun. And we only worked under the sun..lol.

Young and having fun, partied a bit much but what are you gonna do smile

The only time I was ever scared or not having fun was repairing the sheet metal roof on a bottling plant in Vancouver. We were directly above the glass melting pot or what ever, about 100' or so. Super steep pitch and we had to be tied off. Each section we pulled off was hot as chit. The exhaust for the furnace was huge and about 10' away from wjere we worked. You could spit on it and it would boil instantly. Really small section and only took a week or so. I remember the firat piece we pulled up, only three of us, and seeing the giant pool of liquid orange glass directly below us. Something I wasn't aware of going in and will never forget.

Gas doesn't burn at the same rate in traffic. Again, work history is paramount.

Ok. My bad. You must be a rare case. Good luck on your ventures. You won't get where you want to be without some bullchit.

You can have your doctorate, but if you are 56 and haven't worked in 20 years you're gonna have your work cut out.

Nate doesn't want to work. I think we all knew it. It's back to it being a "choice" of his for sone reason or another. You have to stand on your own feet sooner or later. You'll be 40 before you know it brah.

I go to work for 16 and come back to gas mileage? WTF?

Nate - my real, real job is engineering account management at / for a VERY large coffee company in Seattle. 60 - 80 hours / week easy Monday - Friday with international travel the norm (it sucks). I design and make coffee packaging for a living (cups, sleeves, food, retail pkg etc.).

My secondary job is to help out a buddy on the weekends with NDE inspection. Structural xray, magnetic, ultrasonic inspection etc. on awesome [Bleeeeep!]. This is the job I was talking about, but you would do it full time. 60 - 80 hours week or more. Right now we are the doing Simpson Pulp Mill shutdown in your back yard. I've spent the last 2 weekends inside of gnarley ass pulp mill tanks shooting steel with batman level technology [Bleeeeep!]. Today I spent 16 hours inside of a tank the size of a VW bug, in the pitch black, with a special black light, a super 220 volt magnet and cancer causing glow in the dark magnetic particles looking for cracks in 1" thick steel. The pay is good and the work is fun -but it is real work, so you can't be a pansy.

I do this on the weekends for FUN after already putting in 60 - 80 in a damn suit. I line my pockets with some walking around money and help out a best friend.

If interested, shoot me a PM. Same for anyone else.

This is my only post tonight. I gotta be in a tank in Tacoma at 6 am and I live in Snohomish. FML...

free labor...

talkin out your fvckin ass again...

dude, you need to leave this board, you contribute nothing but sh!t talking to other people, and make up lies and other horsesh!t..

how about you keep your fvckin mouth shut about stuff you dont know what the hell you are talking about.... i mean, sh!t, you tell me to right? might as well show me the way right?

idiot...

Nick, thats not something that would interest me in any way, you couldnt pay me 30 dollars or even 50 dollars an hour if i could get cancer doing it, really thank you, but im not good in closed spaces either...

Simpson tho? right on...

my dad was the supe on his house, well, on of his houses... he sold one a few years back that was over 100k square feet... and he isnt "Simpson", but its still disclosure stuff like Nick said...

you know whats funny? the guys a serious fisherman, and fly guy... hes got all these flies from all the greats... not tied himself, but tied by the greats you read about, that created the flies... he wanted one from my dad... when he died, and we moved, it was still sitting in the vice with the bobbin around it, not finished... im not sure what happened to it, but i think my brother still has it... i should probably call him up and ask him if he wants it still, as a "memento" or what not...

Relax Nate. When you get a full time job I will leave the board. Trying to pit a hitch in your giddy up.

You couldn't shut me up if your life depended on it. Just so you are aware. Not that guy, kiddo.

The chit I would do for $50/hr would give you guys nightmares.

Had a funny feeling Nate wouldn't be starting a job any time soon. I don't know how many people I have known that had actually responsibility and bills that have worked some of the mill shut downs here and done clean outs in what not.

Comes a point as man you puy the fear of the boogey man, burnt out night lights amd tight spaces behind you. Your dad is gone. And so are many other's dads. Amd someday mine.

Oprah has a chest cold so she goes to the doctor. The doctor says "Ok Oprah I want you to take off all your clothes, get on the examining table, and spread your legs as wide..." " What the hell does all that have to do with my chest cold???" exclaims Oprah. Doc says "Oh nothing,I just wanted to see what my house would look like painted black with pink shutters..."

Leave it to RobertF to get the thread back on topic . . .

Nate,

People give you crap on this forum because you set yourself up for it. Actually you beg for it. Everything about your posts spell two things about you:

1. Drama Queen; and

2. Deadbeat.

You say you could get good paying jobs anytime you want, but since you don't want to, and haven't posted any indication that you're sick or disabled, it comes down to being a deadbeat. Deadbeats are adults who live off their mom and girlfriends. Men worthy of the slightest respect of other men don't do that. Period. So just how is it that you think anyone here owes you the slightest respect at all, when everything you post about yourself indicates the exact opposite?

Man up. Or continue with your deadbeat status, and stop whining for sympathy. It ain't happening. Respect is earned. And you're deep in the hole.

Nate will tell you he does it for us. So we have laughs. And that the world is his oyster.

Then he will admit he needs to get his life on some sort of adult track, freak the fuk out on me for saying things that are true and must hit close to home.

The fact of the matter is Nate is not going to work or become a productive citizen any time soon. If ever.

And shut up Brewer. Nate's a grown @ss boy and can handle his own problems.

So Nate and I chatted last night about his car.gave him some homework,as in check a few simple things that are common to his Subaru.as soon as he does those simple checks we can see if that's what was wrong or we will tow it over and get it handled.Just wanted to give a little update. I really think he wants to move forward.sounds like a nice sincere guy.
