I live in Spokane and am thinking about heading over to fish this coming weekend. I was wondering if I could get some local input on which rivers to try ..Sky...Snoqualmie? I am bringing some friends who have never caught a steelhead so I'm hoping to get them hooked on the sport. I would appreciate any input on the issue also any clues to good spots would also be a bonus. Thanks!

The Sky is more senic and also has more public access. Two of the more popular sites are at the towns of Monroe and Sultan. Both areas have launches and plenty of bank access. If this is your first time on the river my advice is to hire a guide. Guides can be found for the Sky in the Washington fishing and hunting news. Good Luck!

Howdy! I enjoy the Reiter Ponds area this time of year.( take Reiter rd. off R.2. 1mi. road forks go R.when you cross Hogerty Cr. turn R.) The hatchery run is usually over, but there should be some left over to have some fun with. And the wild fish are starting to get up there also. The access is good upstream and down from the hatchery parking lot. The hacthery cr. dump's in right in front of the caretaker's house, just walk past the two long pond's. This time of year, the place get's little attention. Fish with spoon's and cover lots of water. The river should be prime.

If you are heading from Spokane to here why would you want to fish these rivers? If you really want to hook you friends of steelhead fishing either hire a guide for the local rivers or in my opinion don't fish around here, it's depressing!! For the amount of time that I have waisted this year on the Sky and Sno it's in your better interest to go the the peninsula. This place will not upset you! I can't count the hours on the local rivers here by Seattle that I have spent. One trip to the Hoh river and hooked 4 nice fish, one was at least 18#. Now that's fishin! Just my $.02, see ya good luck on your trip!
