Just curious where others where when they heard the news.

I was almost four years old. I remember my mom crying then setting my older brother and I down on the sofa and explaining what had just happened.

It happened two years before I was born but it is a still historical marker for all.

I was sitting in Mr. Kelly's English class, 9th grade, when Mr. McCabe came in and announced (this was before classroom intercom) the assassination.

I was in 7th or 8th grade and they had us all assemble in the lunchroom and told us.

There are a lot of old timers on this board... I'm surprised that some of you guys even know how to turn on a computer, let alone post on the internet...

I would've liked to have lived during those times, but not enough to trade it for youth.

Was a junior in high school. Was in a French class when word came over the intercom. We were allowed to watch the TV in the cafeteria while waiting for the buses after school was let out.

The 1960 presidential election was the first that I followed closely and took part in class mock debates on the election issues of the day. JFK's death hit home pretty hard - did join the Peace Corp after college. 50 years later not much of an idealist any more.

I was in 5th Grade in Chehalis. It was announced over the intercom; while most kids were shocked and saddened, there were a few of Lewis Counties finest kids that were laughing and cheering. Of course 10 year olds did not come by this naturally, there were (and still are) some real pieces of work there.

I believe that this day 50 years ago was a sea change for the United States. The next 10 years in America were deeply colored by the events in Dallas. For better or for worse.....

We weren't born old, our youth was the mid to late 60's--- good time to be young. Some of it is a little hazy, almost like a smokescreen.

Even at the time it was made, Kennedy's comment about asking "... what you can do for your country" was recognized by many as an excellent description of of the fascist philosophy of government.
