I believe it to be a saltwater mooching reel. Is it? Do you know the make?

That is definatley a mooching reel. You will se alot of people use these reels during salmone season in the salt water. The Canadians are known for using these reels. Some people refer to them as nuckle busters! Wait till you hook into a 40# chinook in the salt water with one of those and then you will see why they call them nuckle busters. See ya!

That looks like an ALVEY reel. They are some of the longest casting reels out there. Most people use them for mooching. Charlie White fishes them a lot.
