I know that March 31st is the closing day for steelhead. When does the Springers ( chinook ) open? I was reading in the fishing and hunting news and they predicted the Wind river and Drano Lake was going to be open April 1st,has anyone heard anything different? My buddy and I would like to go out of town this weekend if the springers are going to be open. My girlfriend leaves out of town, and it had to be this weekend, you know! Could anyone help me with this topic? We will be fishing from the bank unfortunately! See ya, tight lines!

The wind river is opening on Saturday, April 01. Don't know if there will be anyfish there by then though. Has anybody heard or know of any fish coming back to the wind yet?

Brian,
There are quite a few rivers open now, Kalama & Lewis are a couple. The Wind and Drano Lake do open Saturday although it's a bit early. Personaly I'm working hard to get the "honey do's" done so I can hit it hard in a couple of weeks. See the WDFW web page for the news releases on what opens when.

WATCH THE DAM COUNTS AT BONNIVILLE AND THEN THE NEXT DAM UP. THERE WILL BE A DIFFERENCE IN NUMBERS. ALSO THE FISH AT WIND AND DRANO CAN BE FROM ANYWERE SINCE THEY SEEK THE WATER TEMP DIFFERENCE WHEN MIGRATING UP STREAM. IF THE DAM COUNTS ARE RISING, GO! IF YOU'VE NEVER FISHED THIS BE READY FOR BOATS WALL TO WALL, IT CAN MAKE TILLY LOOK LIKE NOTHING IN MID OCT.

GOOD LUCK.
i START FISHING IT AT THE END OF APRIL...
