Hey Folks, I've been gone awhile and if this question has been asked and answered recently, forgive me and point me to the post.

For those of you who fish a single Siwash on your double-hook plugs, which hook do you remove, and why? I'm talking about Tadpollys, Wiggle Warts, and the larger Hot Shots.

Seems to me that I've seen the singles fished in both hook locations, but I'd like some opinions on which way is best. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I can only remember seeing them on the tail and sometimes even with a small barrell swivel between it and the plug.

Tadpollys - Toss the belly and butt trebles. Use two snap rings on the butt of the plug with the solo hook pointing up.

Wiggle Wart family. Toss the belly and butt trebles. Connect a 4 bead barrel swivel to the snap ring on the belly. Fix you solo hook to the end of this extebded barrel swivel. For larger Magnum Warts, use a 6 bead barrel.

Hotshots. Same as Tadpollys.

I've never tried belly hooking tadpollys or hotshots. Seems to me they'd be a little too sensitive for a belly hook.

Seems to work for me, with no problems. Don't know if that is what other people do, but that is what I've picked up from several local guides.

Parker is right on the money with the hook setups he described. Always off the tail with singles on the Hot Shots and Tadpollies. I used to run a 4-bead chain swivel off the belly of my Wiggle warts with a 2/0 hook attached but now I attach the hook directly to the tail with two split rings and it seems to hook fish just fine.

I've used the belly bead chain to one hook on Warts for years with good success on Steelhead and even better than the stock 2 hook setup for Kings (hooks 'em deeper).- Steve
