I like it.
Especially the comments about the moon.

I can remember when it was said that the Japanese out-worked us...we were lazy.
Now the Euros say we're stoopid...they can get it done in 32 hours per week.

BS.

The car on the moon is ours and they'll never touch it.
Fuggin Euros.

The Fuggin Euros can't afford the $38M it cost to build that dune buggy.. grin

Ya...we can afford it ,we're only 17or 18 trillion dollars in debt.

You can fix the unemployment problem the European way, regulate workers hours below 40 hours a week.

You could also enact three months of vacations a year and retirement at 55

Good commercial. As an engineer that has worked at GM, Microsoft, International Paper, Starbucks, Bertlesmann Group and many others - I've lived international business for 20 years and its a pain the ass to work with Europeans and the Chinese. 18 weeks for paternity leave you say? 4 straight weeks on holiday in the Med you mentioned? 1 whole month for Chinese New Year - seriously? And you bitch when I take a Friday off to go fishing and you can't get an immediate answer. F you. Hey Ireland - you'll get your TPS cover page when I give it to you and ONLY after some fishing has been had.

America is pretty much responsible for every truly major, modern invention in the history of mankind. The auto, nukes, space flight, man on the moon, the cotton gin, tv, radio, phone, mass scale agriculture, robotics, electronics, bio medical, SW / HW and a PC on every desk just to start. Capitalism at its finest (which yes, has its known drawbacks). The last thing the middle east gave the world was the Abacus. Russia, E.U., Latin and South America? HA! All of our tech was exported into Asia, so they are great at replication...but not true invention. On the whole, it's not always in the Asian cultural way to question "why" and make something better. The Japanese are proud, ego driven perfectionists and that keeps them from gitin' er' done (look at Fuki Nuke disaster). Minus the Germans (which are not living breathing, normal human beings i.e. robots), the Europeans are just drunk and on permanent holiday. For the most part, America shows up with our shirt sleeves rolled up. This American way of thinking also finds its way into the Military. Nobody else ever seems to show up. We're not perfect, but at least we show up.

In summation, from a business perspective - we pretty much rock and the rest of the world can suck it. While things aren't the best here on the homefront, we ain't going anywhere anytime soon and if we do...we ain't gonna go out without a serious, world altering fight. The American way...

EDIT: Russia was first into space, but we perfected it. So that's a draw...

Well written.

It's populist, it's red meat, it's chest thumping. But like all advertising it's a lie. But it's the best kind of lie -- the lie we all WISH were true.

Seriously, Nick? That's the biggest load of bullsh!t since your Super Bowl prediction.

Where did modern mathematics come from? America?

The most significant developments in math, chemistry and science took place before the US even existed. And giving the US credit for nukes isn't quite the whole story, either. In fact, Albert Einstein and I both had a little chuckle about that one.

I agree doing business with Europe and Asia is tough. I deal with suppliers in Europe and customers in Asia all day long....... But there is more to the world than business.

Like fishing, for instance.

No need to get all uppity like the US has it all figured out and the rest of the world doesn't.

Good call Hankster a search provided me with this.

In 1986, President Ronald Reagan said: “Back then (before 1981—ed.), government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” The remark has been widely quoted to describe government at all levels.

To be fair, we have had help along the way. German scientists and all that. But for a country that's only a couple of hundred years old, what we have done is truly remarkable. WWII was the defining moment for mankind. The winner got the spoils at the height of the industrial revolution. But we are a melting pot and we've pulled the best of the best from around the world to help us do so.

As far as work ethic is concerned, I stand by my earlier comments. Nobody can touch us in that regard. I deal with this every. single. day.

PS...I consider math to be Age of Enlightenment material, not modern invention based off of standard math principles. Outside of the ancient cultures (Egypt, Mayan), Europe & the middle east from 1000 - 1700 get credit for "modern" math.

But past that [Bleeeeep!], we took it to another level...

Edit: I'm an Engineer, so trust me and hold my beer.... rofl

PPS: For those that may believe my earlier post to be a bit racist, please - spare me. I don't care if you are a hermy purple polka dotted unicorn from Uganda. I'm an American German, English, Irish Mutt robot. So what? In my line of work, I don't see color or sex...just get your [Bleeeeep!] done, right and on time where ever you are located around the world.

Shut your drippy cu.nt, Hamster. Einstein had everything to do with the atomic bomb, you paste-eating x-ray tech. And look at the team members of the Manhattan project if you want further confirmation it WASN'T an American-only gig. You always have to go out of your way to be a fuckin' bitch, though, don't you?

American work ethic? lol

Go to the unemployment office, welfare office, emergency room, or public school and then come back and tell me about this amazing work ethic we have but nobody else does. Compare it to German work ethic. And don't pull your dick out from under your shoe and try claiming Germany isn't Europe, because it is.

You should go engineer something to support your ego, Nick. I bet by using math principles not discovered/developed by Americans, you could pull it off. And just remember that next time you and Hamster are on the same side of an argument, chances are it's because you're being a dumbfuck.

The Manhattan Project is great example of American ability on the bleeding edge of technology.
...on short notice and during a world crisis.

One of my uncles (electrical engineer) Union Carbide employee, worked on the fuse system at Oak Ridge.
National effort and many families contributed.

Good points, Dan.

I think our "make it happen" class would beat their "make it happen" class in most cases if only by shear volume of class members.

We both have our underclass that suckles at the teat.

I never said he WAS directly involved, Mr. Drippy Kunt. Your problem is you're too busy trying (and succeeding) in being a little bitch that you don't read. Or if you do, you're too fuckin' stupid to understand what's being said.

You can try to make me STFU any time you want, you old fuckin' goat. The easiest way to do it is to stop saying stupid sh!t - but that would involve you just not saying anything - ever.

Go kill yourself.

most of that "underclass" works far harder than the "upperclass" in both hours and effort.

the "upperclass" gets far more time at the teat.

Well, I think we proved that in WWII - even if we did borrow a little of their talent to make it happen.

In Germany, there is a well-known and much said slogan - "Die Arbeit Macht das Leben Zuss" - Work Makes Life Sweet. That's something my old man would say, but not something you hear during your day at school or watching TV in this country. Here, we glorify making money by being a player or a scammer, not by being a worker.

The fact is, producers and go-getters are always outnumbered by lazy shitweasels no matter what country you're in. I assure you there are French and Greek workers who kick ass and produce - they are just awash in lazy f.ucks.

The only sure thing is there is someone where Hank works who busts his ass all day that wonders why Mr. Drippy thinks it's OK to spend so much time online every f'n day.

American workers are productive - but you aren't you lazy internet browsing sack of sh!t.

So stop riding the coat tails of those who produce, you man-handling x-ray jockey. You aren't one of them.
