I am looking for more information on the Wind river .I have never been there but it sounds like everyone is fishing the mouth of the river on the Columbia .Can you fish the Wind river up stream or is it closed ?If you can where are Boat launches and take outs and are there any hazards for a drift boat? thanks for any information

Check the regs for open/close questions and check previous posts for more info. You can't take a drift boat down the Wind unless you have a death wish. You can fish the river from the bank.

I agree with Stink-unless you want your boat to look like the one on Bob's post the other day DO NOT take a drift boat. As well-limited/confined bank access

you can launch your boat just off of highway 14 and you can go upriver maybe a mile maybe more ??? but not much more.you can't drift the river and you have to get to the boat launch fairly early to get a decent place to park,you can get mor info by reading the previous post on the location and hazards of fishing there.

This is a estuary fishery in the mouth of Wind at the confluence of the Columbia and the Wind. The hatchery is low on the river and the state opens a small are in the mouth. Put a motor on back! Fishen and hunting after the fact news has a map article on it that will show you the fishery. It has all the details. I dont think the wind is reccomended for drifting drift boats down. I think its very hazardous.

hey peeps, i took a trip to the wind yesterday(friday) and i expected sumthin totally differant.i was so discouraged after driving 3 hours to find there were no drifts there. so i jus casted a wart and a spinner from the bank..has anyone used bobber and jig from the bank and how did they do? anyone fishing the kalama..? i went there after the wind..and one guy i talked to said it was slow..so i drove over to the cowlitz and fished it a bit..nuttin doin either..so i drove home (tacoma area) long friggin drive man..im lookin to go to the kalama in a few weeks, when is usually got fish in it? g'day
