Howdy, While I pondered over my cool new all in one punchcard, I noticed something missing. The Steelhead C&R punchcard. Can anybody put my mind at ease as to what this is a forecast of? And why do I buy into (40 buck's) a game I don't know the rule's to. For all I know, the opportunity won't be what it even was this last year. Clam punchcard's anyone ? Plunk On !

Not only that but wheres the river codes? there's a place for it on the card but no codes. I fish alot of different rivers can't keep them all straight. age and everthing.
Also I think they have the cards backwards. Instead of us paying for things we don't use( claming, sturgen, etc.)and lump them together. How about a free licence and when you want to use the resource then you buy the punch card. Sure now it's cheaper if you buy it this way if you do everthing but if you fish only?

When I picked up my Oregon license and annual tag, I too noticed the license was absent a space for marking the catch and release of Steelhead. When I asked the ODFW about it, they said it was due to the inconsistent and equally unreliable information of catch and release. Most anglers did not record the data however the more successful anglers recorded many released Steelhead. When they tried to expand the data, the results were pretty screwy. He also mentioned that they don't use released Steelhead catch data for any management purpose.

Am I the only one who has a steelhead section on my combo "punchcard?" On the same side with sturgeon. Where were some of you when WDFW was holding public meetings and visiting clubs for 2-3 years, to find out what anglers wanted?? They even took Bruce Crawford out of Fish Programs, just to go out and find what we wanted in new licenses. Mostly they heard us screaming that we didn't want so many pieces of paper to haul around. They tried!

You're correct, Scaly. The department had about 7 million hearings and meetings to receive input from anglers on the license issue. There are many more serious issues to get involved with, for example: dredging the Columbia, dam removal, and WDF&W's insane desire to kill more wild steelhead on the penninsula.

I got my license and had no card about codes. I do have thge sturgeon part with the steelhaed. That's cool with me, I will use those the most anyway. The part about crabs is going to be funny I think. I'm waiting to read the regs about how to fill that out.

Hey Scaley, The catch and release punchcard is the question. I didn't notice the lack of river codes. Maybe the girl at Fred Meyer threw it away? As far as attending the public input meeting's, I've been there, done that. I'll spend some quality time, pounding my head against a brick wall, and get the same result's. Remember only 7% of angler's surveyed, have even heard of a Dolly Varden.
