What's up anyone been out on the Washougal? Are the summer runs here yet? They sure haven't showed in the East Fork of the Lewis..

Due to the ESA and trying to reduce the number of hatchery adults spawning with the natives, the EF Lewis received a low plant of around 25,000 summer smolts in 1998. This bulk of this low plant would be, of course, returning as 2-salt adults this summer of 2000. Check it out under "Smolt plants" on the WDFW web page. Normal plant for the EF Lewis averaged around 80-100K smolts, but not for this summer. In other words, EF will suck this summer.
Washougal should be more interesting with a normal plant. QUESTION: Is anyone out there in cyber-space willing to cough up bank access points on the Washougal (Besides Hathaway and Bowling Alley) I would appreciate any info. Thanks - X.

the sandy swimming hole, the 4 mile marker, below the steel bridge, anyplace you find a pullout on the upper river, also the north side of the 17th st bridge, watch out for the no trespassing signs on the upper river they mean it.A real good place also is hathaway park in washougal early early in the morning and then a short walk upstream to a place they call greens,if you look upriver you'll see the river make a turn to the north thats greens if you fish there bring lots of tackle its reaaallll snaggy. Good luck. Bob
