well since most of the people on this bb are now from out west, you just might be the only current mich. resident.

now that is not to say that some the these wonderfull friends on here might have started out from back in the big mid-states area, some choice and others had things chosen for them and now just stay here.

no matter we do not look down on flat lander's and invite all to joint us here in the great northwest.

I lived in Michigan about 20 years ago, but I'm originally from the Northwest. Folks out here would be shocked if you told them the number of steelhead pulled out of the Great Lakes and the streams flowing into it. You have some great steelhead and salmon fishing back there - unless things have really changed.

Most of the steelhead in Michigan originated from a hatchery on the North Fork of the Washougal in S.W. Washington - and Michiganders called them "Skamania's", as I recall. These are a really large strain of steelhead - and I'm thankful that we've got them back there to help repopulate the streams out here when they're all gone - which seems to be the direction we're heading in.

There are a handful of Great Lakes steelheaders who frequent this board. The most noticeable name is 'Hawk' (Troy Hawkshead) out of Frozenrope, MI. The reason Hawk hasn't replied is that he's gone fishin' this week with a couple of his Midwest steelhead animal friends. You'll know when Hawk is back in civilization because he'll be bragging about all the slabs he C&R'ed this week (or you might hear an elk bugling out in the distance).

If you are lonely for Midwest companionship, there's Great Lakes-based www.steelheadsite.com. The Steelhead Site's got an active and useful fly fishing rigging chat room, but truth be told Bob's is the best board for steelhead and salmon irrespective of where you live (or fish)

Being from Ohio originally, I'll assume you are like most of your wrong-headed Michiganders (if that's a word)and are too dumb to root for Ohio State football (masochists stand to the right!). If so then perhaps you haven't seen www.michigan-sportsman.com which also have a fair steelhead/ cold water chat room. One of the board administrators 'Steve' was reasonably active on Bob's Board late in 1999, but has been absent of late -- their board crashed and had to be rebuilt.

I'm from Traverse City, but no living out here in Port Orchard, Wa. Miss the ice fishing and hitting the big Yellow Perch in the spring, but all in all, I think I'm staying out here.

I grew up in the Jackson/Brooklyn area. Great lake fishing in that area. Been in Seattle for two years now. Seems to be a lot of BS with commercials and tribes and sportsmen out here. Never had a problem back East.
