Solid work cj. We had a bad case of the no-land-ums today. Started off 1 for 9 with the fish to hand being a nook. Finally popped 2 coho around noon as we were about to call it. What boat were you in cj?

Nice job CJ. thumbs
Glad you are getting out and learning the ropes.

RnG - the rain will bring some in, but it doesn't look too promising for a solid teener year. frown

Thanks! And befriended a great guy, Bob Dean, from the Armed Forces Derby put on by North Kitsap Fishing Club (I think is what its called) out of Hansville. He took us out and got us one some fish it was awesome.

The fish are few and far between. You really gotta look for them. Im primarily a beach fisherman and I am in the high 20s on caught from the beach. But lately it was slowed down again. Maybe the rain will help we shall see.

Yes it awesome to have some contacts and new fishing buddies.

But your right the big fish aren't around like they should be. I have seen some big fish landed in the 12 range and even saw a legit 14-15 hooked but lost, just too much for the guy. Beach fishing has been good if ya know what your doing. I have a few 8-9 lbs on my belt but nothing bigger than that.

There seem to be a lot of fish around. Best bite is before the sun comes up. Then , eventually , anything you put down there will get hit.

Just before Sunrise Tuesday. Yes, before.

Couldn't keep my eyes off my rod tip

We had the two in the boat, released a third so we wouldn't have to quit when we got the big one ...(well for this year this counts 9#)

Took until 9:30 to get another strike, which was a double! landing one and heading home before the weather turned completely to [Bleeeeep!].

It was snotty this morning. Same story fish early I think 2 outa 4 before 7:15 then we missed a few. Lost one at the net around 11 and called it. Was really blowing by then.

See you out there tomorrow. I will be in the Arima wink

Sounds like the rain has helped cool the water and bring in the fish! 13lbs is a great Coho for this year. I am curious as to where that fish was caught tho. Another thing is floating herring.. I gotta try that.. heard it works but crowded beaches make it tough to try.. someday ill get one that size I wont stop trying!!

I wouldn't call the fish few and far between. Only small. Limits have usually been quick and easy for a few weeks but I don't think I've caught one over 8lb.

CJ - you generally need a little deeper water to float herring in. Like the Fort Casey whirlpool or a similar spot.

This rain should bring some nicer fish in...

Most of the fish I catch floating herring have been caught within 20' of shore where the water is 5' to 8' deep. Some fish caught are within 3' of shore.

Most of the hookups I get from shore come with 20' to my rod tip ha.. my dad was lifting the bait out and had the bait 2" out of the water when a Silver came out of the water and smacked it

No one has made a report in a month so I figured I should keep this post going a bit longer.

Im a beach fisherman mainly as you all know.. I have been hitting the beaches nightly (and morning) from PNP to Salisbury and everywhere in between when I can. From my time spent I have landed 1 fish out of 16 hookups since Wednesday last week. From Saturday to Monday I went 0 for 12.. plagued by bad luck, broken lines, and pulled hooks. Fish are being caught and definitely on the bigger side than what I have seen. Fewer fish more size. Herring, buzz bombs and squid looking lures seem to be the ticket.

Hearing good things about fish moving out west in the straits hopefully they head to the Kitsap way and beyond..

Hope yall continue to have tight lines and better luck than me.. I gotta shake this curse!
