Might want to check with Olsens resort about the landing of Halibut in Sekiu meaning returning to Sekiu via water with Halibut on board. maybe I don't understand the definition of landing. I have read that Olsen's was closed to the landing of Halibut in a few fishing reports. I find it kinda strange if this were true. I have gone West of the Sekiu river before to catch 2 Lingcod since east of Sekiu river has a limit of 1. Upon returning I have never had a problem with the game warden in doing this. My Laywer hasn't deciphered the fishing regs for me this year yet so i am looking for information others may have related to this.

Fished the last three days at Sekiu for Hali, the fishin was great, but the catchin was pretty slow!!! Saturday there was 7 or 8 landed for over 100 boats, Sunday there were 3 landed and Monday only one that I know of and it was boated by a friend of mine (38 lbs, nice fish!!!). Didn't get tottaly skunked for the weekend though, Saturday my buddy's girlfriend picked up a nice 30" Ling and we also caught a couple of nice Yelloweye's Sunday we caught a nice Yelloweye and a Cabezon and Monday after workin the tide change for Buts' we went back to where we picked up the Ling on Saturday and on the first pass through I caught a 30" Ling and she picked up a nice rock fish. Sunday afternoon we went west of the Sekiu River and fished for bottomfish in the kelp beds along the shoreline, what a blast!!! We were using light steelhead gear and pitchin 1/4 and 1/2 ounce jigs with 4 inch grubs, in two hours we caught a legal ling, 3 black sea bass and 7 rock fish. My buddy and I were laughin, we felt like we were on the bassmasters. All we needed was some goofy country theme music and Tennesee ball cap and we were set. The weather was perfect yesterday. It did rain off and on Saturday and Sunday, but the wind stayed down so we didn't get blown off the water. I don't think that the fish are there in any kind of numbers yet, but I still had a great weekend. Tight lines, Jeff
