Looking for a float rod. I have a GL3-1143c that I thought would be fine but I see everyone else using lighter longer rods.any suggestions on a good rod.I'm a newbee to float fishing any help would be appreciated.

If you want a good float rod for the money St. Croix has an 11 1/2 footer rated 4-10 that is a good all around rod. I've run 12 pound on it and 6 pound and it handles both well. It is a spinning rod. it retails for around $130. If you want a casting rod Loomis has a few available that work well in the longer length but they are more spendy. Personally I prefer to go with a spinning rod.

I am interested in getting a longer jig rod. I have not had any luck finding a rod in that length with that pound rating. Where could I find the 11 1/2 foot rod you are talking about?

Schoff's in Kent carries St. Croix rods. They also have a 13 footer that is real light for around the same price.

I was just looking through a few old rod orders and noticed we built a 11'8" IM6 rod last year. This may be what you are looking for.??

IM6 4-8 line weight. $160 +s/h.
The IM6 is a really pretty Rootbeer brown finish.

also have the St. Croix rod mentioned above.
11'6" 4-8 $130 plus shipping
