My sister and I would get up at 6:30 every Saturday just to watch cartoons. We had a portable black and white TV with a six inch screen and we'd get a bunch of pillows and blankets and lie on the floor about a foot from the screen.

Big Bunny, The Pink Panther, The Ant and Aardvark, The Road Runner... there were lots of others but you can probably tell that Warner Bros were my favorite. I had a great uncle that was an animator, he directed some episodes and his wife painted the cells. I got to meet Fritz Freeling and had some memorabilia. Hearing that it has been cancelled just make me sad for kids today. Innocence and having fun just doesn't seem to fit into the agenda anymore.

From talking with coworkers a week ago i went back and watched a ton of foghorn and sam clips. My 2 favorites. A lot of good humor there.

The good news is that all of this content lives on in numerous ways. Whole TV networks dedicated , on demand TV, and the Internet.

I used to love watching all that stuff.

Two of my favorites from Foghorn Leghorn.

"Boy, I say boy, you're about as sharp as a sack of wet mice."
"Boy, I say boy, you're about as sharp as a bowling ball."

I LOVED all the Saturday morning cartoons, especially Bugs Bunny...here are scenes from my two favorites...

Rudolph the Hairy Monster

"Monsters are such interesting people!"

And...Bugs Bunny vs. The Crusher!

Stan Lee, Mel Blanc...Hanna Barbara, Warner Brothers Looney Tunes...wouldn't have been Saturday mornings without them!

Fish on...

This sure makes me feel old, but I have fond memories of Saturday mornings, in the freezing cold basement in Colorado, watching toons with my sisters on a crappy TV with crappy VHF reception. I'm not sure if anyone's ever said this before, but they don't make 'em like they used to. Heck, it seems they no longer make 'em at all.

I showed my kids some Looney Tunes shows recently, and they seemed to enjoy them quite a bit. I'm pretty sure I enjoyed them more than ever. Sad to see another tradition slide by the wayside. In my opinion, Hollywood, like most of our society, has completely lost its imagination. "Reality" shows and constant remakes of movies that sucked to begin with are evidence of that.

I agree that there's funny stuff out there today, but it's downright crude and inappropriate for kids, for the most part. The fact it's shown during prime time (and sometimes late) says that it's targeted mostly at adults. I loved the Simpsons, especially in the 3rd and 4th seasons. It was suitable for all ages, and the writing was creative and hilarious. These days, it's become too much like Family Guy, American Dad, etc. Funny, but crude and less imaginative.

Stuff my kids watch these days that I like would include Adventure Time and Bob's Burgers (although that one can be pretty crude at times). Always liked Spongebob Squarepants, too, but my kids seem to have outgrown that.

ReefSkunk's right. I am old, beyond my years even.
