Loaded up a few pics of magnified views of some steelhead scales. There is a little info on the pics about aging the scales but not much.You can get a general idea. The hatchery fish have 1 year of freshwater growth and the wild fish usually have 2 years. The fish put on bands of "rings", the winter bands are closer together due to slower growth. Also a couple of coded wire tag (the tags that are injected into the fish head) pics. I hope to get a pic of a repeat spawner up soon.

Got up the pic of a steelhead that had spawned twice. You can see the re-absorbtion of the scales each of the 2 winters it spawned. It appears as "clear" or "bubbly" areas. http://www.geocities.com/lettyrene/biology101.html

What do you mean "just about"
I'm enrolled Quinault, female, own a brand new jet boat and motor, fish, dig clams, shoot deer, cut firewood, have a 36" tv, and keep the fridge full of beer!!!
