It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

My sympathy meter doesn't budge for players or teams.
They both make a fortune, and should be happy to be in the position they are.
Still every player should think they are worth top-dollar, because they should play like they are. And every team should consider their players worth the bare minimum - because they want more money for better players.
Reasonable players and reasonable teams manage to come to an agreement. What more can you expect? Teams to pay top-dollar because they get asked? Players to take small contacts because that's all the team wants to pay?
Yeah. And then we'll go play in the jelly bean fields and watch the cotton candy clouds drift by.

SZ, Agreed. We seem to have this conversation every off season. Must be the worker bee in me. The NFL makes billions every weekend and in my opinion the players are not getting nearly enough of that pie. IMO guys like Lynch and JJ Watt should be the highest paid entertainers on the planet. They deserve every dime plus some due to their skill, physical sacrifice and short careers. And the NFL can afford it. Fortunately Schnieder seems to have the perfect balance of SZ and BB . And game days will be here soon enough and we can forget about all this crap.

Hank, for the team it makes sense to do just that. If reports are true, the Hawks are offering a $16M signing bonus. 1 year @ $1.5M + 2 years @ $20M + $16M in a signing bonus equals about what the exclusive tag MIGHT cost them. RW and Paul Allen are pretty skilled in the art of negotiation. Again, we need to chill, Russell will be here for at least the next 3 years as long as the Hawks want him.

Apparently the dollar amount is not as much of an issue as the guarantee he is asking for. If you avg out the franchise amounts and factor in the fact that it's a 100% cap hit I doubt they are far off in dollars. Rumor is that Wilson wants the most guaranteed money ever. That means the owner has to escrow the full guaranteed amount. That gits sticky because Alan is expected to fall in line with what other owners are trying to do and limit the guarantee's so they don't get into the same pickle as the NBA and MLB with contracts.
Or the team thinks they can plug in One of many read option QB,s about to hit the market in the next few years and would prefer to find another dominant RB to fit their formula.

The top ten best players in the league will be announced today. BeastMode is in there I would love to see JJ Watt get picked for #1. The forty weeners have ZERO players in the top 100. The Hawks I believe have 4 in the top 34!! Go Hawks!

Nice write up on our first draft pick Frank Clark 6'3" 270lbs 38.5 vertical jump.... He won't get moved around like Irvin does. http://www.fieldgulls.com/2015/7/14/8958001/frank-clark-could-be-the-real-deal
