Raiders signed a good Olineman Kelech Osemele too. Loved watching the raiders back in the day. They will be tough next year! I was hoping the Niners would go after Os, but I think he's signing for $10M+ APY. That's too rich for a guard, IMO. Osemele can also play both tackle positions.

We cant afford to lose Jeremy Lane. Frank Clark is down to # 257, I see him playing the LEO position. Free agency starts in less than 3 hours. Chris Clemons has a meeting with Pete today. Not sure how much he has in the tank, he did have 8 sacks last year. I can see him playing 25% of the snaps at the minimum salary.

In FAWKS NEWS...
...no more seeing the belly roll, Fawksfans. Brandon Mebane is signing a contract with the Chargers.
He's a damn good run stopper and I think the Fawks will kinda miss him plugging up the middle of the field. Our first pick will be a big nasty DT. Probably one of the studs from Alabama.

We may lose Bennett soon unless we pay him, the giants just gave Oliver Vernon 85 million for 5 years, and he's nowhere near as good as Bennett...

...long-time Fawks QB Matt Hasselbeck announced his retirement today. He is expected to be on the ESPN Sunday Countdown show for the upcoming season.
Congrats for your 18-year NFL career, Matt. You're a first-class man and I wish you happiness and success in your future. I must add he was a tough SOB. He didn't miss many games and played hurt half of his career.

Mebane is long in the tooth and he suffered a terrible Hamstring injury last year when it tore away from the bone. We will draft his replacement with our first pick. I'm glad we signed Rubin, pete said he is the best run stopper since he's been the coach. I'm a huge fan of Mebane.

Keeping their key core players is the path the Hawks have taken. To do so leaves you little room under the salary cap.
The guys that are leaving would still be here if the Hawks valued them much, but they did not.
The other option is to have tons of room under the cap and be a [Bleeeeep!] franchise like Jacksonville.
