I was looking in the Bremerton suna nd it said that there were a few silvers caught. What time do they ussually come in? Well, on another note I fished in Montana and Idaho for the last few dates and I caught a few trout biggest being 14 inches.

I think August is a good time to catch silvers. I caught and released a little nate last year in August, off of Point No Point.

Chris, the Silvers the paper is talking about are resident fish. These fish are similiar to most of the winter Blackmouth, in that most of them never leave Puget Sound. If you have ever heard the term "net pen fish" these are the fish they are speaking of. The fish are kept in net pens for the first year of their life in the salt. Not leaving the confines of their net seems to keep them from their migratory urge. These fish are generally smaller than their ocean bound cousins. Although, the last few Septembers it has been difficult to distinguish between them.

As a side note, the Oregon and Washington DFWs are predicting HUGE runs of hatchery silvers back to the Columbia and it's tribs this fall - up to half a million. Last year they got back about half that.

Look for the next STS for more info.

Look for a - tide and a 12' or more high tide and plan to be there 2 hours before high slack. The silvers are out there. Find a good spot where the rocks are on the bank. They will bite at 15' from the bank. I have caught 4 already, in the 4 to 8 pound range all hatchery fish. They will hit almost anything. Sharphooks..

I have been fishing the south sound. From the bank. I really don't think it matters. The fish move with the tide. So look for fast moving water and cast at the seam of the current, between the slow and fast water. The rocky shore is a must. The bait fish move in along the rocks. Try bait, spinners in #4 or #5 or buzz bombs. I have seen all of them work great. This next week looks good for the after work run. Study that tide book.
Tightlines.

Ironfisherman,
I see that you are from silverdale. Around what area are you fishing? On the bank or boat?

Try Point No Point or Kingston last few hours of outgoing, and Jeff Head or Point Wells on incoming, that is if you have acess to a boat

I fished area 10 again and I only got 2 Dogfish. There were 3 boats out and 4 guys off of the shore so there must be something around. I think I might try it again today. Anyone else fish for them silvers.
