Is the outside of Vancouver Island open for king fishing?
What kind of fish are running in the Thompson system this time of year? Little early for the big summer steelhead? Water conditions to expect?

Really appreciate any information.

Hey Marty,

You might want to check out:

infoservicebc.com/stsfishing

This webpage has some pretty good links on it - you should be able to get to the rules an regulations from there. there are also varied fishing reports on the web page itself.

It's my understanding that the Thompson steelhead run peaks in October. You would probably want to concentrate in the area around Spences Bridge which is about 1-1/2 hours north of Hope. Big river with world class steelhead and also world class slippery rocks.

I saw a download from a Ministry of Enviroment (B.C.) paper on the probability of closing the Thompson to steelhead fishing the number of spawners is really down. Less than 1000, now thats a damn shame!
