If I were to sue my employer its consider voluntary termination. If I were to win the suit then I'd get my job back with back pay. If I lost the suit than I'd still be terminated. Not sure why the NFL would be any different.

But what I really don't understand is why don't professional athletes put me on million dollar retainer to write apologies? I could have put this all in the past two weeks before the SB. "At some time in the past I may have inferred that I like my footballs on the soft side. It was never my intention that those footballs be deflated below the legal limit. I sincerely hope he gets an injunction staying the suspension pending resolution of the case...which has been consolidated with the NFL's and will be in Manhattan, not in Minneapolis...and that the case resolves right there at week 15, just in time to miss the last three games of the season, and if somehow Garappolo gets them in to the playoffs, into the first playoff game, too.

I believe that was the rationale, but the way I heard it at lunchtime, the NFLPA gave the NFL authority in to unilaterally punish players for rules violations in the last CBA. As usual, it looks like the NFLPA's word is only as good as the word of any one of its members... and if you consider the way they all want to tear up their contracts every year, that ain't too good.

I love watching NFL football, but the constant parade of overpaid, self-entitled men proving that they are, indeed, above the law of the common man is getting tougher and tougher for this fan to stomach.

This is exactly why I'm not a huge NFL fan.. When players reach stardom many create their own politics to draw interest their way and to raise their stock...
