If you mean the lower 11 miles, below the hatchery, it opens Oct. 16th.
Welcome to the board, but this answer is right in the regs pamphlet (pg. 66).

It is closed to protect the spring salmon. Hope it works there use to be a nice run in there. I know during the late winter when it shuts down to sporties the local indians are still allowed to sport fish the river and DO.

Hi-
I'm new to the area,actually still finishing a move to Port Angeles. I was wondering when it opens in Oct, is it for salmon or steelhead? How has it been fishing in the past few years? I admit I haven't even looked at the regs yet on that area.... After the move is over, and I have time for some fishing! Thanks... Bob

BWO1, it opens for great coho fishery. Usually pick up a few steelies too.
