I would like to help out this time. I often can only hit the river to fish once every other week or less. It would greatly help if the cleanup could take place later in the morning ( when I give up the fishing)
Keep me in mind, I definitely want to give back something to the river.
I am relatively new to fishing the Kalama but it makes me sick seing the trash that people leave. Scum like that should be forbidden from the river.
Has there ever been trash cans posted by beginner's hole? that might keep some of the litter to a minimum.

OK I will walk this time if I have to. Lets pick a date and time. I will be the one with the big trash bag. Lots of folks using the Modrow area these days mayby that would be a good place to start. Say 9:00 AM . when would be a good day for everyone? We could get together and fish the early AM. then do a clean up. Any day will work for me so you guys pick the date.

Rvrtramp,
Let my know when, I`ll make it on down again. Who knows, maybe someday I`ll even be able to fish it productivly.. that day we went down was the only time I had ever been there. didn`t really know where to go which is why I wasn`t sure if we were in the right place or not to begin with, maybe next time I can meet someone along the way and wagon train with them to be sure.*L*
Seems more often than not I spend more of my time getting the birdnests out of the kids`, (and my own sometimes) line than fishing..heh-heh.
Can`t complain though, at least they are out trying and constantly helping me test my patience..(especially after only after a couple of few hours shuteye) not to mention perseverance.*G*

forgot to add, I went today and packed out a bag of trash from painted rock. That is such a gorgeous hole, too bad people leave so much trash.
( on a funny side note, I was emptying out a beer can when I realized that it had fish guts stuffed in it. Boy did it stink!

I don't mean to jump your post, but a local lake near my house started placing trash cans. They put them near the boat launch and people started using them for their house garbage. It got to the point that the can would be full and other bags were around it. Not a good idea just my .02.

Sorry folks, i am gone fishing the weekend before and will be working the 16th.
Really would love to be down there meeting all you good folks and helping out.
After 3 trips down i finally think i got a wee bit of know how and might actually be able to hook a fish. This little beutiful river has some very subtle ways to present things right for the fish. I have watch and talked to everyone i meet, the GOOD, BAD AND UGLY.
Maybe we can meet when someone gets things organized for the clean up on the Carbon River.

HEY GUYS; WHEN ARE WE DOING THE CARBON???

I'm tired of hearing you guys brag about what you plan to do. I went to my favorite fishing spot and cleaned up five full garbage bags of crap without the help of the other six or eight regulars fishing there. This included two full bags of aluminum cans and one full of glass. The rest was mixed garbage. I also threw a pile of unbagable trash in the back of my truck. When I told the transfer station operator where the trash came from he took it free.

You guys really piss me off with your endless talking and planning. You don't need an organized group effort and bragging rights to do the job. Just go find the trash and clean it up. You'll feel better when it's done. I certainly did.

More to say!
The two bags of aluminum cans and the bag of glass were recycled. The loose stuff was mostly metal and it was recycled too. The rest was just trash.
Pick up your own trash and whatever else you can find. You don't need the moral support of your buddies to do the job.

this post lets people know there are people out there picking trash up, maybe a few more people will see it and jump in. Sounds like you have got some issues that go beyond picking up trash. Sorry our talking about cleanup irritates you, from now on we will talk in code.... .. .. ... + ... can+....... .. .... .... bottle>M .. .. .paper. ...... ... .. ... .. ._ ? .....,, <@)((><

I'm SO glad to read so many of y'all (harkens back to some time spent down south) are out there cleaning up the watersides!
Slimy, sorry you feel folks are just out there bragging, but judging by all the crap I see and pick up when I'm out there, it's good to know that at least some people are not only talking about it but DOING something about it, like yourself for instance!

I haven't been able to get my waders on and fish for a time now because of the cast on my leg, but I do still go to my favorite spots just to decompress from life's frustrations and manage to gimp around and pick up the garbage left behind by thoughtless people. I just wish more people would.....

rvrtramp,
sorry not this week, have been putting in only 1/2 days, you, 12 hours at work.

I may go down to the confluence on Sunday of the carbon and the Puyallup to see if any fish have come up yet. If your are still in town i should be there around 6:30 am. I park just before the bridge crossing the Carbon on the old hyway from Puyallup into Orting.
Still some steelhead in the Carbon, but make sure you are using steelhead gear or else the fish cops will think you are snagging kings.

Hey guy's, good new's, we have started closing on saturdays starting this weekend. I may be able to make it down for the 16th after all. It will depend on honey-dew list or bad weather: pray for rain, please.

rvrtramp, yeah it is really nice when the water starts to clear up. I heard that they have been let the water out of flume on the carbon and it is not helping the color.
Hope all you knuckle heads, (nice meaning) whom are going to be the Friday do some good. From what i have heard the fish finally started moving up even without much rain. I geuass it is nature's signal it is time.

Got 3 days to find as many fish as i can.

What out Puyallup and the old Nasty iam coming with both barrles loaded and all 3 poles wound tight.
