good fuk em I hope they are held accountable. I will never buy another German car anyhow, they are a drain on the wallet, and apparently the environment too.

I saw that one today...that's a serious asswhoopin' they are in for right now...all the cars have to be recalled and fixed, too.

They already did the recall and, apparently, it didn't work. The question now is CAN the company actually fix it with software? I suspect they can and will but the obvious end result will be a reduction in performance and various specs on the cars which I'd think would open them up to class action lawsuits from customers. It would also be interesting, although probably futile, to see a class lawsuit by their customers simply for being mislead on the environmental aspects of the cars. That might come down to customers proving they were "harmed", either through being physically exposed to undisclosed pollution or even through some "I'm emotionally hurt at the damage I unknowingly did". That lawsuit would be mildly comical but there seem to be a lot of people willing to give the lawsuit lotto a go.

I had a 64' bus, my Dad called it a 4 speed Nazi footlocker.

If they pay the fine it should go to the consumers but it won't, the fine will disappear into a bottomless pit.
