Hey Lester....your latest post just proved my point!!! Thank you very much! And I don't think I'll leave this BB just yet. Frankly, I don't care two hoots whether you liked what I had to say or not. If you don't want to hear it, don't ask.

Sorry Bobolink...frankly he's right about one thing..you are a man of experience.

Bob, I talked with the guys from thor-built this morning and I got the history on Deans boat so that everyone will understand your displeasure. First of all Dean designed his boat himself, he gave me the measurements he wanted and then I forwarded them to John at thor. Then I put John and Dean in direct touch with each other because John and Mike said that deans dimensions would not work corecctly and that the boat should be at least 4" wider to float right, Dean did not want to do that so they built it to his specs and since he is a fishing guide and not a boat designer or builder that is why it probably performs the way it does. I would like to bring my boat up to forks and let you row it one day so that you will have a more positive outlook on a great local boat builder. Call me when you get back Bob and we will set a day aside to run the Boat. Thanks Superfly!!!!!!!!!!

POSH II,
Your trouble is you didn't have two hoots. I asked for info about Boats. You added exactly nothing to "our" conversation. You did not utter one word about Thor-Built Boats good or bad so just exactly why did you respond? Take your own advice and if you don't like what you see stay off the post.Don't bother responding anymore as I would rather talk fishing and/or boats than to try and qualify myself to you.so find another post to "hack"on.Sorry guys, let's talk more boats.Kofflers are Kool!lester

Hey Guys, koffler makes a great boat if you are looking to bulk up and be in a body building compition. They are definately bullet proof but wiegh in arond 400 lbs or more which is to much for a driftboat. Something to think about, especially if you row everyday or row some large people, every little bit makes a difference.

Superfly,

Is your new Thor the same as mine? I'm pretty sure it is but I just wanted to know how much the new Thors weigh. Just curious. Mine is the black one by the way. I have been using a group 27 deep cycle battery for my Minn Kota in the special holder for it that was built into the back of the boat. That battery is one heavy son of a ***** and the rear of the boat still sits out of the water plenty far. Super, can you tell me the concept of the new concave chine? I just floated a local river that was way low and I made it through some super skinny water. The boat doesn't seem to draw too much water at all. I was amazed to say the least.

Justin

OK one good word for Koffler. I just had them build me a 16' wide bottem guide modle this summer. It's a nice drift boat and is only 280#s. Joe Koffler is a real good guy and will build to your specs. Now I have never rowed a Thor so I can not compare them. If we meet on the river you can give it a try.

Justin, great to here from you man and glad to hear you like the boat. Your boat and mine I think are Identical, and I have been running a minn kota on mine as well because I have been fishing kings in the tidewater. And yes they do go in skinny water, amazing huh!!
Bama, yes Bruce is a great guy, top notch company! and if I ever run into you, you are more than welcome to row the boat. hey guys have a great weekend and be patient with all the labor day crackers out there. Laters Superfly

Sorry man, but Glen does not build driftboats. He builds an ok sled but a Woodridge is not half the fishing boat that a Thorbuilt is. I know because I've owned both. If you're not convinced I'll take you fishing.

just to weigh in on the great boat debate...I have a tarheel special, built by some boys in sedro. Not a lot of rocker, but no matter how many linemen are in the boat the ass doesn't droop. The limited rocker makes it track straight as heck, and also keeps the boat floating high (great for skinny water). The boat also is hell built for stout (to borrow Willie's phrase) and may be a bit heavy, but what the hell, I have no problem rowing it. The boat is a little narrow for my composite oars so they are counterbalanced with weider weights (purple w/ velcro straps). I and my fishing partner have had no problems maneuvering the boat (spinning it). Of course I've been rowing boats since 5 yrs old and my partner rowed crew at the UW.

IMHO, if the boat floats, y'all catch fish, and ya don't die, it's a damn good boat...
