I never cheer when anyone gets a mandatory sentence, because I think mandatory sentences are a one size fits all solution to unique problems.

I just watched the video of BTG getting shot. He fled cops where he had been pulled over, ran up to a roadblock that he tried to drive around, but got stuck in the snow. He almost ran over an FBI agent on the scene.

He exited the car, put his hands up, was told repeatedly to get down, and instead reached into the inside of his jacket, and was shot and killed.

He had a loaded 9mm in his jacket.

It was OSP officers who shot him, not FBI agents.

Looks to me like he wanted to avoid the unpleasantness of a lengthy trial and prison term and on the other hand the taxpayer saves money on prosecuting and jailing him--this is what I call, in my book the art of the deal, a win-win.
